Hopefully Kemba and the Celtics can maintain this good form

Yeah, and he did the right thing all night long by moving the ball early instead of forcing it, which is why we won.

It's true.  He needs to pass that ball quicker and get it back on the way to the hoop. More movement from Tatum will help everyone on the team.

He did and needs to do it more and quicker. He's only 22.

The team played worse with him on the court though. He simply isn't that important to the Celtics - his net on/off this game reflects how the team's fortunes are hinged on the play of Kemba and Brown rather than him /s

Boston won yet another game against a great team without Jayson Tatum putting up big numbers.  At some point will this board finally catch up to the idea that the only person that truly matters is Brown. He is the guy, everyone else is just filler.

You might be saying this tongue in cheek but I agree with it. People around here overrate Tatum (because C’s fans are always looking for their next Larry and The Truth) and underrate Brown.

Tatum has a few offensive moves on Brown but that’s it. Brown has a better feel for the game overall, is significantly better on defense, and knows how to get into the right shots better. We shall see if Tatum ever surpasses him.

Exactly!  For whatever reason, passing out of the double team is Tatum's skill that is taking a while to learn.  Hopefully he can start recognizing it quicker and get easy shots for someone else.  He has the length to see the court really well, so I think at some point instead of trying to dribble out of the double team, it will start to sink in that you can pass faster than you can dribble.  That will force the other teams def to swing to adjust, and Tatum just might get some return passes for wide open shots.

I think both of them are around the same level - Tatum's better at carrying an offence, but Brown isn't that far behind him in that regard and makes up ground with his more scalable offensive game (he fits better next to more talented offensive teammates) while I think his defence gets on Tatum's level or even slightly surpasses him in the playoffs where his defensive strengths are magnified (really leaning towards the latter nowadays with how the playoffs have become a game of chess where teams hunt for favourable matchups).

Very good win tonight even if they were shorthanded. I wasn't happy that they gave PG13 an open 3 at the end but we survived.

I can’t truly evaluate Tatum this year. I think Covid drained him. He looks tired, not really hustling much (especially on D), and really slow in a lot of situations. His rebounding has gone south as well.

I think he deserves a mulligan this season. So far that is. Hopefully he gets some life back. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still great. But not his normal self.

Brown really needs some time off. Looks incredibly ginger every time he hits the floor, and has way less vertical pop than usual

Hopefully Doc doesn't play him much in the ASG. On a side note, he was on fire to sart the game but had very few touches in the second half. I really hope Brad tweaks the offense because solid ball movement (just like what the clippers showed) will do wonders for JT, JB, and Kemba. Sometimes an extra third or fourth pass is all it takes to get a wide open shot. We still see contested shots by our big 3 even with some time left in the clock.

Ball movement does not appear to be close to happening. In fact, the team is digressing.

Brown and Tatum are the culprits - the ball stops with them and they go into their iso bag of tricks while everyone watches them often end up with a heavily contested step-back-fallaway 17' jumper or a drive into heavy traffic in the lane. It has gotten worse and worse with no end in sight.

Then every time Tatum makes a couple of big shots at the end of a game (like vs Wizards), it just encourages more one-on-three basketball. As great as he was at the end vs Washington, he doesn't seem to be smart enough to know when to take over by himself when occasionally needed and when to play within the offense and let the shots come to him with ball movement. He and Brown have to learn this to really lead this team. I would say, at this point, both are dumb basketball players. Tatum almost lost the game down the stretch tonite by forcing his offense.

And where is the coaching to teach these guys when to be aggressive and when to play within the offense ?

Celts were also short handed without Marcus Smart, who would have defended Leonard.
