Collins is a mystery to me. His numbers look great. He has the body and all of that to be exactly what we need. A nice young, long, skilled big. I only have watched him play in the couple of Celtics games and I must say I was not impressed. I did not see what I expected to see based on his record/stats.
To give up the kind of package that was discussed, you have to be 100% prepared to match any offer he gets. That could get expensive. Christian Wood got 3 years $41M. Suspect it will take more to get Collins. It's risky, that is for sure.
Trading for him with the expectation to sign him long term probably means trading Kemba in the off season. Are we better with Collins over Walker? I am just not sure how good Collins really is. Are Collins and Walker both worth keeping and paying heavy tax on them? And by "worth Keeping" I mean does that get us to the finals?
I don't think I give 3 first round picks (really 4 if you count Pritchard). Slow play it. If someone else overpays, fine but maybe the cost comes down some.
