I’d like to change my vote from no to yes. This is the right move in the long-run in order to ensure Boston always has a duo the next decade. In all likelihood, the way the league runs these days, these two are going to join forces somewhere down the road so it might as well be here now and indefinitely.

I'm aware that Beal and Tatum are friends but how do any of us know that this translates into Celtics keeping the duo here for a decade, or, a guarantee that Beal-Tatum will eventually work their way into playing on the same team?   Many NBA players go through their careers without playing with friends (like you and me who don't get to work with friends) and the friendships do just fine. In fact, it might even be good for friendships not to work together.    Of course, playing on the same NBA team together might be all that matters to them in life.   The fact that they've said they'd like to play together is likely something every pair of NBA friends probably says at some point.

Re: the Tatum and Brown relationship... it does seem like they may not enamored with one another, but I've been trying to think of which Celtics player(s) Tatum does seem to be pals with.  For that matter, not sure which Brown is either.  Brown-Smart seem to have a mutual respect thing, but no one stands out as guys I seem them hanging with during TOs, when on the "bench", after games.  But I would guess that's my lack of observation skills more than anything else.

Beal, like Brown, is a borderline all-star with a career year. Except a couple years older. The upside is we probably keep Tatum and Beal around the next decade as the St. Louis Celtics. But what other moves do we make to get a Big 3 to win it all?

I do think that Brown has peaked and I do question the chemistry of Brown and Tatum behind the scenes. Beal and Tatum are lifelong friends. Beal is only 27. If it guarantees we have an all-star duo the next decade, I think I’d do Brown for Beal. But we’re still not sure how to get a Big 3...
“Borderline All-Star”?? What?

Beal is a 3 time All-Star who has averaged 27/5/5 over 4 years
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I think Brown and Tatum are fine (definitely not hostile towards each other). You can see it from their reactions on the court towards each other during games. Will they be each others best man? I think most likely not.
For the longest time I thought that Smart hates (or hazes) Brown but i think they are past that stage now.
I am incrementally more and more worried Tatum will bolt for the lakers in 5 years. I don't know why just a feeling

His idol is Kobe. Check his instagram page. I have also seen his kid dressed in lakers' atire. then the interview he gave to ESP in which he basically stopped short of saying he hated the Celtics (but acknowledged he grew up a Lakers' fan)... It is small and relatively insignificant things like this.

You left out the part where he was decked in laker gear, and his infatuation with LeBron who is also a laker. Look for Tatum and Beal to try taking their talents to Hollywood.
