Why couldn't Celtics limit Beal. Surely Brad Stevens had a game plan to counter Washington's primary scorer
He's Washington's only real threat yet he's averaging 35 a game. Not much you can do in the league in this day and age when facing perimeter scoring talent like that.

I'm glad we won but we were one made open Bonga 3 from losing. Bonga 0-5 on open corner 3s.
I mean, it is what it is. And if Smart and JB were healthy and playing, Cs might have won by more than 10 pts.

It's the point that we keep losing those corners open. Most guys in this league aren't going to miss 5 open shots like that.

Beal is the NBA’s leading scorer, just under 33 ppg. He hasn’t been shooting the three that well, but he’s still just under 50% from the field. Everybody lines up to stop him and he scores anyway.

Thompson tough under the basket with 13 rebounds.
He's been really solid over Feb. Was inefficient today, but he's been really reliable from the field (62%) and has been getting after the offensive rebounds, including eight against Atlanta. All our veterans, being Teague, Thompson and most importantly Kemba, have been rounding into nice form. Just unfortunate that it is coinciding with Brown having a tendonitis flare up and Tatum suffering from COVID after-effects

What I want to know is how Thompson can go 1-9 from the field when he literally is only taking shots 3 feet from the basket...

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

... and Smart missing more games than anyone other than Romeo.

Health is the biggest reason we are struggling.

Yeah, kinda weird how he misses from close range.

I think he often suffers from expecting more contact than he gets (we see this with Smart all the time missing layups) or he just does get bodied by two players. Hence the weird anomaly 1-9 night

Bonga was wide open by design. It worked

I will take this win but man we didn't deserve it. We had a lucky finish with Tatum making some big shots but the Beal out of bounds saved us. We really should have lost that game against another bad team. What happens when we play good teams? I guess this team will fight to get into playoffs or play-in game and Danny can preach patience to use his ASSets over the summer. Always the procrastinator. What about NOW while we are still young (kidding I'm not but...). I am tired of struggling to beat bad teams.

He had an off night, but generally has played very well the past 2-3 weeks. A lot of energy.

Thompson was bothered by Lopez.  Lopez is big.  I agree that overall, Thompson has been decent enough but Thompson did not do it in this game.  In a game/match-up like this, a center who can step out would be a big plus.  Neither Williams or Thompson can do that (cough cough Cousins).
