Add whatever sweeteners are necessary.

Utah does it to secure a championship run and future continuity at the PG position.

Boston does it to get an expiring contract.

Conley is having a better year and he’s a good defender.  Utah won’t trade him.

I don't know what's more funny? The trade proposal or the reasoning.

I have less faith in Conley than Kemba. Kemba may not be 100% back yet but he still has game he just needs his shots to fall. I also think his ability to get to the rim and draw fouls will come back and be important.

Conley has had worse injuries/history of nagging injuries over the last 4 years. He’s having a great season this year but not sure this trade makes any sense.

If the C's want out of Kemba's contract then it does make sense for the team's longterm future.

If the C's want to see Kemba get back to being Kemba while on the C's, then just have to be patient.

If Kemba keeps it up and Conley gets banged up...then it could work for both teams...

But no sweeteners...

As things are right now neither team does it....(imo the C's will be patient with Kemba...he's too young and potentially too good to just throw away...they'd really have to want to back up and re-configure).

Conley is dang old...

Utah is rolling with Conley who's playing great. The Celtics have no chance of snagging him.

To do this trade mid-season to me would result in a step back for both teams.  Kemba has been on a good trajectory.  He is just rounding back into form.  His trade value is improving and his contribution to the team is increasing.  And the team is just starting to figure out how to play together.  Bringing in Mike Conley now would mean the team has to figure it out all over again.  Same for Utah.

Unless we are presented with a really good deal from a team that really wants Kemba (and I do not consider expiring Mike Conley a really good deal), I see no reason to trade him at this point.  Better to take this up in the off season.  There is no need to "dump" Kemba.

I laugh out loud at most of the trade proposals but this one did me in the most.

Especially when the OP says doing this helps secure Utah’s championship run. Lol! Conley fits the Jazz a million times better than Kemba would. Especially next to Mitchell.

I'm sure the top priority of Utah is to jeopardise their chemistry and elite play by making a risky trade with no real benefit

Why would Utah ruin a good thing

good question.

At the moment they wouldn't, that's for sure.  But it's a long season and things can change dramatically...A year ago pre-injury Kemba was an all-star and Conley seemed out of the game...possibly forever in any meaningful way....glad he made a great comeback, but the idea is not as absurd as some are saying...  Unless the OP meant he thought Utah would do it today...that would be absurd to think...

Conley is a better shooter, defender, and passer and that quite frankly is what Utah needs from the position.  They don't need a more ball dominant scorer, which is what Kemba is, because they have Mitchell in that role.
