I don't subscribe to the Athletic.  Summary please?

I would also like a summary. I'm guessing it probably is saying we don't have a chance at Barnes?

Harrison Barnes is playing some of the best basketball of his career and is known to be on Boston’s radar (and likely several others). The Celtics, as has been widely reported, are on the lookout for ways to make good use of the $28.5 million trade exception they created in the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade with Charlotte. Barnes — who is second on the Kings in scoring (16.7 points per behind De’Aaron Fox), third in rebounds (6.5 per) and third in assists (3.5 per) — has a team-friendly deal that declines year-over-year ($22.2 million this season, $20.2 million next season and $18.3 million in 2022-23). To this point, sources say teams have been given the impression that the Kings have no interest in moving Barnes.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Most relevant to BOS:

- OKC, CLE, DET open for business with exception of their young prospects.
- Rival executives don't expect Aaron Gordon to be available before trade deadline.
- John Collins may or may not be available (Salary demands = may, ownership priority for playoffs = may not). Likely  that he stays because of the latter and his production, but Hawks will listen.
- Possible that Kings may be buyers, not sellers based on a recent surge, supposedly teams have been given the impression that Kings have no interest in moving Barnes. Hield is up in the air. Bjelica appears likely to be moved.

Not surprised at any of this.

I think the Heat and Raptors would beat that.

Grant or Rob? I doubt they want another center, and I wouldn't want to give up Rob anyway. I'd include Grant. He and Semi kind of superfluous.

What type of offer would you expect?

Raptors offering Annobuy or Chris Boucher maybe Lowry for salary filler. The Heat could offer Tyler Herro which the Hawks could see as better than Marcus Smart.

The Raptors have Siakim at PF and the Hawks have Young at PG. Lowry to Atlanta doesn’t make much sense.

Putting Smart alongside Young does however. Despite me not wanting trade Smart in a Collins deal.

I would love to see Collins in green though.

If there are real offers I am sure Danny is on the phone. But unsure what we want to give and what may give Heat, Kings, maybe Nuggets ...

Whatever even if I would be sad, I make the trade you propose (Grant+Smart for Collins+Dunn+ Snell). But I would hope to give only this year first and one second. Afterall they may really want to pair Trae with Smart and they may not want to max Collins next yea (will we want ? Or even can ?).
I would have prefered to give Kemba to a thrid team and keep Smart : two doges at C and PG for 3 elite all star wings. Then trade for a Reddick with the TPE which would be long term nit needed (need to pay Collins). Unfortunately the timing isn't good and Kemba value isn't enough high right now to find a third team to give pick and youth for Kemba.

Whatever Collins is maybe the better/most probable player who could fill our need and beeing available. But the fact we can't pay him next year with still Kemba (next year = 120M on 4 players ??), may still put us out of interest.

People argue this a lot, but I am hoping it’s not true.

Smart makes $14 million per year. I’m not sure what Collins Max is, but assume it’s around $28 million in the first year.  The other moving parts are essentially a wash financially, unless we leave Dunn out of the deal.  In that case, between Williams’ salary and the draft pick, we are saving another $5 million or so.

So, the net cost of adding Collins is about $9 million.  That’s a pittance.
