Just an observation: Boston Celtics are 28th in assists and 23rd in FTA. Not a sign of good offense.
We need a passing big man. We need big Al

A passing small man would do.
Rondo? Lol 😬🤣
Teague & a 2nd for Rondo? ;D

Sends both veterans back to their original team too. Nice romantic touch

Cs miss easy put backs because it is a chore for the undersized bigs. Are bigs so hard to come by that Danny cannot buy one on the market?

Danny could acquire bigs if he wanted - he does not want to.
He has some strange man-love for wings and an aversion to big post players to the point of obsession.
He ain't gonna win any more titles until he upgrades our post players.

Ugh.

You can't have a dude taking 18 shots and hitting 3 of them.  At some point Kemba has to have the awareness to stop trying to force his offense and work on making his teammates better instead.  And that should have happened about 8 shots ago.

Awful basketball from him today.

I’m not sure he knows how. He’s not a real PG and is always looking to shoot. Smarts getting better at playing point and Pritchard seems to be a natural.

Sometimes benching a guy opens his eyes.

Even with a benching, I’m not sure that it will make him into a playmaker all of a sudden. He is what he is...

And what he is would make an excellent instant offense scoring punch off the bench as a fabled Celtics 6th man.
In that role, he could help us win a title. Not gonna happen as our starting PG.

Kemba took a page out of the Teague book today. Made some 3 pointers, but went  0-for from 2. I have been a huge Kemba supporter, but he was terrible today. He is seemingly playing for the foul and not getting the call.

I’m thinking Kemba is Carmelo Anthony. And needs the same role- obviously it will never happen.

I feel like Westbrook is starting to fit that bill as well. He’s a bad shooter and just puts up empty stats. His team does not seem to play better with him on the court. What’s really depressing though, is that Westbrook has a higher 3pt% and FG% than Kemba does. Yikes... :P

Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

It was realy a mess of basketball, one of the most uggly basketball match of the year, after the Knicks one but with similitude with this one. At least we avoided the blowout and were almost able to make one of the worst hold up win of the year... If Tatum hitted his shot it would have made min 2 within  min to go... Whatever we didn't deserved it at all, we survived only with the abuse of 3s, not loosing the ball and fighting for rebound. And Suns inconsitence. It was not a pleasure to watch and the time of the match isn't an excuse.
I was always believing Kemba would wake up at one time in the match, but he have a hard time to come back mentally, if not physically. His first match were encouraging from an quick look. Now his strong frustration is contagieous.

But not only Kemba must interogate himself. CBS should do also (where is Celtics and usual Stevens basketball with offensive teamwork and tactical game ? why sometimes this strange starting and closing lineups ?). Danny should also (agree to wait until the deadline if needed but we need at least 2 players with TPE at this time). Even Tatum should ask himself about his game (being more agressive when the shoot doesn't fall, progress on clutch moments -Booker learned it end halftime and end game how to do just after he missed...).

The positiv is that even without Brown (we really saw what it was as a BB team without him tonight) and Smart, and with a putrid colectiv offense we were still quiet close from an OK Phoenix team. And more important : the bench and role players tryout shows some answers : Grant, Rob, TT, Pritchard are players on who we can count for some good minutes, even in PO rotation. But we lack scoring/playmaking options behind our stars and need it if we want to find some regularity in our results and play better basketball. Not possible Brad has to titularise Edwards or Theis TT Grant at the same time. It is like if he brings a message to Danny, hey how this roster is built ? Hope Danny is already begining to take phonecall arod the league, even if I understand we could have to wait until deadline or so. Time to cut/trade some of Waters, Edwards or Green, maybe Teague and find a real offensive 4th (complementary of Grant) and a sub PG or SG.

Frustrating because we can still see some potential even in this horrible, barely unwatchable kind of games... Need a reaction in Utah. Hope Brown come soon, hope to play some match this year with our duo...

I’ll believe it. We aren’t playing good basketball on either end of the floor this year. Lots of missed games from key players will do that to you I guess, but the identity of this team is so different vs last year.

This year’s team is closer to the Kyrie Celtics - heavy iso ball, sporadic defensive effort, lots of hype and highlights but not necessarily translating into results... Granted, the chemistry is better but still. Not a great place to be
