It doesnt sound like an achilles tear/rupture. One would know

I think its a calf muscle tear

Hopefully Smart is ok. Some of the closeup videos of his injury look a lot like an achilles tear.

Hope he's OK.

Gotta agree with jpotter on this one. Brad should have called TO as soon as Kemba secured the ball. The last guy I wanted taking a last second shot was 1 for 11 Kemba. Not when Brown and Tatum had shown all game they could score at will.

But I'm not going to complain about this loss. It was an amazing game versus the defending champs. The defense was great. It was played at an NBA Finals intensity level.

Well done by both teams. Just a tremendous game overall.

I agree, it was a great game of basketball. At some point we have to just appreciate good hard fought entertaining basketball. It sucks to lose, but when the game is lost by 1 point it means the teams pretty much played each other evenly.

This guy says it's most likely Smart's calf as reported:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK7Yif8iYr0&feature=youtu.be

Seems likely to be bad for this year, if true, but not terrible long-term. That's the big story. It may well be time to look for a PG with MS and PP hurt and Teague not thriving.

The second headline was that our top 2 outplayed their top 2 in a game that was as big as advertised.  I was p---ed that we didn't win a close game, but this was a huge test. I too think we can win in 7 (if we can get to the finals) IF Kemba comes around and the bench improves or is improved. I wasn't impressed with the Lakers 4-2 victory over a depleted MIA squad in the bubble and I haven't seen any team that looks dominant this year.

The third headline was that DT and RW played well and I expect RW will be getting more PT since DT seems to be coming around at PF and TT isn't playing up to expectations. RW may well be our future center.

ABC must have been thrilled. It was a great game despite the loss and the refs didn't screw it up despite Lebron's whining for calls.

A very hard time when I woke up, learning this loss and reading the word "achille" for Smart injury post

But then I watched the match and first I still enjoyed the game, but most important I was again so impressed by JB and JT. Both have everything to be future all time players and one of them really have unlimited offensive potential and still a lot of upside. I can't be negative even today, watching them playing.
Kemba was catastrophic today and responsable of the loss. It's one match truth.

Hope Smart didn't broke achille. If he is out only 1 1/2 or 2 moonth it may be a bad thing for goods for future, as he will have to reintegrate the team which will be stabilised offensively without him. He will have to fight to do it and I trust him for that. If it is the end of this year for him or worst, of course it is a very bad news for him, for us and for me cause I like to watch him esp on PO. He was also (one of) the most probable tradble player to have something strong in return. But whatever the Jays wil shine years to come on the league and bless my celtics. Go C's!

I agree.  Outside LBJ and AD, that team is not very impressive.  Better shooting by Kemba and this would have been a win.

I don’t see the Lakers winning it or get to the finals..James and Davis can’t win it alone..the bubble help them last season
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

That was a good game.  Sad Kemba didn’t make the shot.

Who is going to beat them in a 7 game playoff series in the West?  I don't see the Nuggets or Jazz doing so.  The Clips don't have much support for Kawhi and George.

I did not go away from last night's game thinking the Lakers were unbelievable.  I know he had an off night for him, but Lebron looked a little old out there.  It was also pretty cool how Tatum took it to Anthony Davis twice at the end of the game and scored buckets.

Davis is a big problem when he has the ball; he is unguardable with that turn around 15 foot jumper.

If we can get Kemba right, so that he is a net positive vs Schroeder, I think we can compete with them in a 7 game series.

Come April, James body gotta take a beaten if steroids don’t kick in..Davis gotta get hurt eventually.. I believe their team was better last season.. Clippers, Jazz, and Portland can beat them in a 7 game series

Agreed. Also, we lost by one point in a game where we literally gave them 4 points by tipping the ball into our own basket twice.

This coming west coast trip might be painful. No smart or Pritchard, bad Kemba, Teague and Tristan. Not looking good. Brad will have to use all the tricks he has in his back pocket otherwise the trip would yield 1-4 or 0-5.
