I read this idea in a couple of places and have mixed feelings about it. I guess NO is trying to dump him.  If Bledsoe could come in and run the second unit and defend at a high level would he be worth it?

I really hate Bledsoe’s game and he’s not a smart player.. There is a reason his last team moved him and his current is looking to do the same. Do we really need another guard? I think Teague will get better, just doesn’t look confident out there. Plus, why would you want him taking minutes from
Pritchard.

Bledsoe is a very frustrating player, I agree. But if he wants to win a championship and is willing to play a role off the bench and he can be had as a salary dump, I'd take him.

You can't trade the TPE

Only use it to absorb a players contract

I know picks and cash? can go out for Bledsoe

But not sure if one rookie scale contract could also be included

And also, New Orleans has no reason to trade Bledsoe.  He is playing well  and on a reasonable contract

Pelicans want to shed Reddick and Ball

The trade would work fine. Bledsoe would go into the exception, and Teague could be traded as a minimum salary player.

As Tr1boy said, not allowed.

You’re both wrong then, ha ha. 😉

you are proposing a way to circumvent to make the trade work

TPE can't be traded as subject proposes.  And not sure why in heavens Pelicans would want Teague

The TPE isn’t traded.  The player (Bledsoe) is traded into the TPE, and then a new TPE is created for NOP.

And, it’s not circumvention. It’s specifically allowed in the CBA.  For some reason, some fans believe that a player cannot be included in a trade that also includes a trade exception. This isn’t true. The trade exception simply can’t be combined with a players salary for salary matching purposes.

Why would New Orleans want to keep on paying 37.5 million for the next two seasons for Bledsoe?

I don't think it's a terrible contract, but he's not a great fit with Ingram and Williamson and not on the same timeline.
The Pelicans are better served with a younger player who can grow alongside Ingram and Williamson.
Of course the Pelicans will be looking for some minor assets to make a trade worthwhile.

Second year is only 3-4 mill guaranteed. That contract can be used to match salaries on a star @next trade deadline.

I'd rather have Teague on his current contract than Bledsoe on his. Especially since sticking with Teague would mean that we still have the TPE to (hopefully) use on someone that would fit better than Bledsoe
I'm bitter.

We really need another point now. I'd take Bledsoe but I'd really rather have Ball. Either of those guys should be there for the taking. Go get one Danny!
