Step 1:

Celtics acquire Gary Harris (before January 25) from Denver. Before January 25th so that he can be combined with another player and have a 60 day waiting period to be traded before the trade deadline (March 25).

Step 2:

Celtics Trade Gary Harris, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams and draft picks for James Harden

Step 3:

Celtics win a championship with this starting five:

Kemba Walker
James Harden
Jaylen Brown
Jayson Tatum
Tristan Thompson

Houston hangs up the phone.  Jaylen Brown would need to be a part of the package.

did you really take that post seriously? I think Harden refuses to report because it is an insult to be traded for that kind of package. Its like going to Morton's and offering them $3.00 for the Cajun Ribeye Steak. That is not only insulting to Mortons it is offensive to cows everywhere.

I might offer that trade package for a Morton’s Cajun Ribeye Steak alone.  Definitely for Ruth Chris.

many posters are saying so. but it depends also on what other teams offer houston doesnt it? if no other team offers much, then the kemba would look good.

i am not saying the celtics most assuredly get harden for a kemba package, but it is not impossible to see that brown might not have to be part of the package.

harden wants out of houston. why does he care what houston receives in exchange for him?

That makes literally no sense. Harden wants the team that trades for him to give up as little as possible.

the post was a humorous way of pointing out that the package is too litttle. So I really do not expect Harden not to report of the deal is made, but he might feel insulted that it took so little to get him. :)
By the way knuckleballer, Morton > Ruth Chris!!

The Nets can beat that offer, that is all you really need to know about its viability.

I really doubt it that Celtics has any interest in Harden esp if Tatum or Brown name comes up
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Without Brown, or maybe Kemba in a multi-team deal, there’s no way we’re getting Harden. Reason: We’re not the only team trying to trade for Harden, and we only have our own picks to offer now.

In truth lots of potential contenders don't even have all of their own picks to offer.

In fairness, that's actually still a strength. Remember when the Lakers and Clippers threw their future away by trading all of their own draft picks in huge packages? I doubt that the Lakers have any regret.

The teams that have first round picks to offer from other teams are OKC, New York and New Orleans. That's it.

As much as people like Harden a deal like this is probably going to be what a team gives up if they get him. Can't see anyone paying more than 70% on the dollar for Harden. He has a team list, he is 31, known locker room problem, and requires special privileges/treatment. Not a lot of options for buyers.

He might promise to buy in with a team and then go off the rails one month in. He could even ask out in a tuff playoff series like Irving. Same selfish approach, same low buy price IMO.

Irving-Harden-Durant would be absurd, of course. Arguably the best trio of shot-creators to ever play together. But could you imagine, if Durant is injured again, what Harden and Irving would do to each other? Soap opera doesn’t begin to describe it.

Yeah, but the Nets would be pretty stupid to trade for Harden as of now, their roster seems awesome "as is," and would not be worth the risk of screwing up their apparent chemistry.
