Personally I'd absolutely love to acquire Gordon with the TPE. He'd fit in well with the team and because he's 25, he would also fit the youth timeline here really well too. I imagine he'd be an ideal stretch 4 in this system. Hopefully it can be possible though without needing to include someone like Smart in a trade.

Believed to be the #1 target by John Karalis.

He’s a good guy, knows a ton about the Celtics, etc., but this is roughly the same as Jeff Clark’s opinion on who our #1 target is.  It’s interesting, perhaps, but also meaningless.

I’d rather target Fournier or Barnes, although Gordon helps as a defender and facilitator.

Yes, and Karalis isn’t reporting that the team is interested; he’s just saying he thinks Gordon is a good fit. I would be interested in any of Gordon, Barnes, or Fourier, in that order.

My biggest concern is about Fourier because his deal is up at the end of this year and there are going to be a lot of teams out there with cap space. Someone is probably going to offer him a huge overpay that the Cs won’t match and we are back in familiar territory of losing a contributor to free agency.

Barnes' contract is about 4 million more, which may not seem like a ton, but could be the difference in another rotation player.

Fournier is absolutely terrible on defense. He's fine, but doesn't get me excited.

I've been on the Aaron Gordon train for a while. If you watch him play, he plays a lot bigger than he is. There are small swings (like Grant Williams), but Aaron Gordon just looks way bigger out there. I think he would be a really good small ball 5 in stints here or there, but his natural position has always been the 4. His defense one-on-one would be a big help to the Celtic rotation. I also think his offense would fit Brad's system at a high level.

This is an important point - fact vs opinion.

I'd send Romeo and a pick or two.

But this article is super misleading.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I’d rather target Fournier or Barnes, although Gordon helps as a defender and facilitator.

So the issue with Fournier is he's an expiring, an he's gonna be a free agent in a summer where a bunch of teams have cap space and all the go free agents besides Kawhi have sign extensions. Its a recipe for a massive overpay.

The issue with Barnes is he  makes 22.1 million, which means in order to acquire him an stay under the tax they'd have to send out roughly 6 million dollars which means either two of RWill, GWill, Langford/Nesmith or Theis. He's probably a more realistic target next offseason.

Gordon is the sweet spot where he makes a low enough number you could probably duck the tax this year. He's also signed for two years. AND he's young enough (25) to be a long term piece for the c's whereas Fournier/Barnes are both 28.

It will take 3 first rounders from us mostly because they are expected to be way after lottery picks. Maybe Danny can convince Orlando that Romeo, Grant, Timelord and a pick is worth 3 first rounders

I don’t think Gordon has that value.  What team would ever give up three first rounders for him?

I’d gladly give three 1st rounders for Gordon. Those would all be late picks and we have a very full roster.  Maybe we ofter two 1st and a pick swap in 2025.

Well that’s why he is still in Orlando .. they allegedly turned down an offer of 2 first round picks for him
