Subject says it all. Do we go all-in at the deadline and roll forward into the decade with Teague/Baby Ainge at 1, Smart at 2, Brown at 3, Tatum at 4, and Gobert at 5?  We’d be a tax team for sure, but we’d still have most of our youth as well as our TPE and picks to improve our team moving forward. Personally I would love that lineup and Gobert would move the needle enough to be worth the overpay in salary that he will command.

It’s tough. Apparently Gobert wants to super-max from Utah, so we’d most likely be getting a one year rental now that the teams that missed out on the Giannis sweepstakes (Dallas chief among them) have money to burn.

That said, it could also win us a ring...

And if we trade for him, couldn’t we offer more money than anyone else in re-signing him?

Yes, but luckily we wouldn't have to pay super-max level money since that can only be given by the team who drafted said player.

Anyway, if there was any way whatsoever to grab Ingles over O'Neale, I think the deal could make some sense if the Cs would rather move forward with Gobert.

I'd love Gobert.

I'd also love Oneal or Ingles.

But if you think Romeo and Walker are going to net Gobert and 1 of those two you need your head checked. Gobert is a top 15 player in the league in terms of his impact on the game. Utah already has Conley. Better be ready to add a heckuva lot of firsts and a couple other youngsters.

Main point is why would Utah do this trade? We can't keep posting offers on here that allow the Celtics to make out like bandits and makes the other team worse just cause it looks good for us. We'd be getting two starters on a top 5 team in a brutal West for Kemba Walker and a sophomore who hasn't proved anything. Utah made a ton of additions and have Bogs back for this year and if everything goes well has a chance to be really great in the Western conference. This isn't logical.

Sure he's on an expiring but they're not going to give him away. I mean they're going to extend him anyway.

Oh, I don't think this particular trade is possible; just commenting on another poster's idea about interest in acquiring a player that may or may not be on the market.

We could.

Whether we would is another question. Gobert clearly has delusions as to how good he is - I don't think he's worth the max

If you talk to Jazz fans - they are convinced he’s gone after this year and hope to get something back for him.

Why're we getting a one-year rental? We can do an extend and trade where Gobert gets his supermax extension and gets traded to Boston. It's not like we don't pay supermax contracts to top 20-25 players anyways

Our front office would clearly have delusions in how good they are at evaluating players if that is the case - he is absolutely worth a supermax when the likes of Donovan Mitchell, Jamal Murray and Jayson Tatum are getting 4+PO supermax extensions lol.

That team would be the best defensive team in the league if we manage to get Fast PP or Teague to start playing defence. Sign me up when we won't be winning playoff games with our offence with our current personnel

did the same about boogie for umpteen years .   we are forever center poor celtics.  he nly lakers are allowed real centers.

Danny got us Tacko  but refuses to spend on a young youthful healthy quality center.

Why would Utah do this? They already have Conley, and Kemba's injury situation probably means he has zeroish value.
