I'm so happy that he didn't refuse this extension to jump ship next offseason.

Excellent.

I guess we will stop seeing teams waiting for his FA and start making new moves.   (Harden perhaps)

Though how long until we hear talking heads switch to the "demanding a trade" talk?

Great news.

That's good news for the NBA as a whole.  Remaining in the MIL market.

Injury concerns and security now outweighed his desire to have flexibility next couple off seasons ... makes sense.

Just glad it's not Miami and Toronto etc.  Glad a mid market keeps their guy.  Hope for the future of the NBA in regards to stars playing in small markets vs teaming up in LA, Miami and NYC.  Good for Giannis.  He's a face of the NBA and I'm glad he stuck to his guns vs the Durants, Kyrie's, LBJs of the NBA.

If only the Bucks hadn't traded a gazillion picks for Holiday... I bet Giannis would have re-signed with them anyway and they'd still have their future picks. They'd also be #1 favorites to trade for Harden. Worst case scenario, they could have overpaid for a guy like Holiday at the trade deadline.

I'm really glad to hear this.  I hope Giannis sets the tone for the next generation of stars.  It doesn't have to happen in LA and it doesn't have to be easy.

I wonder if this pushes Miami to go all-in for Harden.  Harden is now the only big name clearly coming up in the next couple of years.

Next name up is Bradley Beal and he's not in the same tier.

Once Harden moves I think Karl Towns is probably the next big potential guy to move.

I don't think they had the pieces to get Harden. They gave up Bledsoe (31 years old) and picks that project to be late 1st round. That package wasn't cutting it for Harden. Not when Miami and Philly have significantly younger players to include.

Middleton + gazillion picks for Harden (not an option anymore)

If the Rockets are valuing vets over picks/prospects, the Bucks would have been the clear favorites to land Harden. I mean, the Spurs wanted vets over picks when they traded Kawhi.

The Rockets acquired Wall who's fit and ready to play. It's not like they are about to start tanking.

Not to mention, the Rockets just traded for Wall who's fit and ready to play. It's not like they are about to start tanking.

Rockets have already leaked multiple times that they want a young star in return for Harden. The Spurs and Rockets are in entirely different situations in terms of what their ideal return package is, and I think we're seeing now with the Spurs why it's sometimes better to go for the rebuild instead of trying to stay afloat.

I think this means Miami is all in on Harden now that Giannis is out of reach as a FA.

Herro/salary filler and picks/swaps for Harden will be Miami's offer.  I actually hope it happens. I don't see Butler and Harden playing nice in the sandbox.

Houston will ask for Bam but I don't see Riley giving up Bam.
