Poll: Do You Want The C's To Acquire James Harden?

Simple question. There's a lot of great (and somewhat heated) discussion in the other Harden thread, so I just wanted to see where the blog stands on this.

For the "price is right" aspect, just assume that it's not an egregious ask (like both Tatum + Brown and a lot more) but also don't assume that you can just get him for Ojeyele and scraps lol.

I voted no, I hate hardens game.

Voted no because I hate his game and would probably watch a lot less Celtics games if we were to trade for him.

But also voted no based on the hypothetical trade that I heard on the radio today to get him which was Brown, Smart, Langford next years 1st and sound second rounders.

I sincerely did not enjoy having Kyrie on this team.

I don't want to go through that again.

I think Harden would be that, only instead of giving up an injured, beloved star to get him, we would be giving up one of our young, healthy, in-his-prime stars to get him.

I'd rather not.  I get that the cold-blooded move here is to get the MVP type player irrespective of the downsides.  But I want to like watching the Celtics and trading Brown and/or Smart to get Harden would undermine that for me.

As I said in the other thread, if Harden bought in (at least for 2 years), then I'd probably do something like Brown and Smart for Harden and House as I do think a Harden, Tatum, Walker trio at the top of the roster would be a top 4 team in the league and thus give Boston a realistic shot at the title.

I'd do it for Kemba and picks. Definitely not Brown, Harden is a diminished asset, Jaylen is not. Jaylen plus Smart is nuts.

We'd also have to consider that Harden's style will have to change, he will be sharing the ball here. The iso only game won't win anything, the sooner Harden adapts the better player he'll become.

I said yes, but am really leaning heavily on the price is right factor. For me, that would mean no Tatum or Jaylen. I would do something like Kemba, [maybe]Smart, picks/lesser players - which is still obviously a lot - but I just don't trust Harden enough to go all-in. Plus I don't love a backcourt of Harden and Kemba, as I would really want to maintain our two-way identity.

I understand this would likely not be enough and - even if it was - Kemba would need to be re-routed to a 3rd team (making it less likely), but I am not a hard no on Harden either.

I voted no as I interpreted "right price" for Houston being something more than I would want to give up.  But if the "right price" was Kemba, Langford, and picks, I would do it.

I would still have some concerns over changing the style of play too much to accommodate Harden but I think we would be better.

I would prefer a third option, with the Celtics being part of a 3 team trade and not getting Harden.

voted no.  don't see Harden as the piece that gets the C's over the top.  ugly offense, no defense.

I find it very hard to believe Harden will win a championship as an alpha dog. The evidence suggests otherwise.

And while he'll probably always be a remarkable scorer, I think his body and age are going to start to catch up to him soon considering he's one of the biggest partiers in the league.

Pass for me.
