Where is Tatum's extension ?

I'm starting to worry why the Celtics haven't extended Jason Tatum yet. Is it Tatum or the Celtics causing the delay ?

He is a RFA next year right?

Anybody know the ramifications of extending early vs whatever max we can give him next year? Is it the same?

It's the same. There's the possibility of someone else offering him a max next year as an RFA, but given that we would extend him a max qualifying offer instead of a normal one, that would have to be 3 years minimum (with no options).

Worst case is we have him for 4 years, by far the most likely is he signs a super max extension before the season starts

TP thanks for the info. It  always gets a little hazy for me about the timeframe of when they sign.

The deadline for the extention is December 21. That's a month from now. We still got plenty of time.
