Crap. This mean we’re out on Boggy?

Or technically could Sac match the deal given their matching rights and include him in a S&T deal to us that way?

We're out. If Sac matches, they can't trade him for a year.

They could trade him after 90 days, like most free agents, but with the caveat that he can deny it. Said trade would also have to be with a team other than the Hawks, who he can't be traded to within 1 year no matter what
I'm bitter.

Craig is now off the table

Signing Torrey Craig, D.J. Augustin, Bobby Portis and Bryn Forbes is a nice recovery for the Bucks after the Bogdanovic deal fell through.

Where’s the good player?
Apparently good player is a very low bar nowadays when you sign someone that even the Kings don't want.

Maybe, but Bogdan would have been a much better get for them.

Nothing to sweat about.  Augustin, Portis, Forbes are bottom of the barrel role players.

Craig is a good find though

Maybe, but Bogdan would have been a much better get for them.

$72M/4yr. Seems like we could have gotten in on that if we really wanted to. I still want to get the TPE, but may need to wait until the trade deadline for something of real quality to come available.

My guess is that Kings will match.  Always can trade him or Hield later for assets

would be dumb to let him walk for free

Well, there’s that. No way to get him before the season starts now. Always questioned whether Danny would want him at that price anyways.

So what’s next? Not sure there’s currently a trade option for any TPE we get, so we may be looking at pretty much our final roster.

EDIT: I wonder if Orlando would entertain something around part of the TPE for someone like Ross or Fournier. There were rumors they’d start heading in a younger direction. Either one of them woukd be interesting pickups with their shooting ability.

I would think they'd match too. But its the Kings, so logic doesn't always happen there.

We've got one open spot, and the BAE, so I could see us adding some wing depth. Nothing groundbreaking, though.

I'm also pretty intrigued by the idea of getting the Hayward TPE and then using part of it to bring in TT in a S&T. That would leave us the full MLE, and while I don't think we would use it now, it could be huge in buyout season.

The past few years, we've really only had the minimum to offer a buyout player, but if we had the full MLE we could outbid basically any other contender (if we wanted to). It would reduce the TPE to more like $20 million, but I don't see us adding a $20-30 million player at the deadline/next summer either way.
I'm bitter.

Looks like Dario Saric is still available and likely could be had for the 5 million trade exemption we got from the Kanter deal. I would love to grab him, he'd be great in our 2nd unit.

Yeah, that's a good call. That TPE would be ideal and help alleviate the sting of losing Hayward. I also like having basically two MLEs (since we essentially used one on TT already). Not only do you get quality players with this (if you are a competitive team), but you also avoid overpaying for players because that is literally the max you can offer. Having a ~$20M TPE and the Full MLE going into the season would give Ainge a lot of ammunition in the trade and buy-out market.

Yes to this.

Why would Phoenix let Saric go if C's (or anyone) signs him on the cheap?  He'd be a great pickup but I can't see how Phoenix doesn't match.
