Assuming they don’t get a thing for Hayward and they sign two or three  FA with the MLE and whatever is left

G Kemba, Pritchard
G Smart, TBA FA, Romeo
F Brown, Nesmith
F Tatum, TBA FA, Williams
C Theis, Williams, TBA FA

Edwards, Waters practice players

Kanter traded, Semi traded or released, green released
Hayward UFA New York or Atlanta

Probably a 3rd place regular season finish in the east.

If Hayward signs a long-term contract with the C's:

- Dump Kanter for cap relief + whatever future pick(s) we can get.
- Sign Nerlens Noel.

PG: Kemba - Smart - Pritchard
SG: Brown - Romeo - Edwards
SF: Hayward - Nesmith - meh
PF: Tatum - Grant - Semi
C: Theis - Timelord - Noel

If Hayward gets traded to the Knicks/Hawks for a TPE:

- Use the newly created TPE + Timelord to trade for Christian Wood. It would have to be a sign and trade.
- Again, dump Kanter. Replace him with Noel.

PG: Kemba - Pritchard - meh
SG: Brown - Smart - Edwards
SF: Nesmith - Romeo - meh
PF: Tatum - Grant - Semi
C: Wood - Theis - Noel

Alternatively, we could start Smart over Nesmith. I just think this would be a more functional lineup.

Don't like the Indy trade. Hayward is hands down the best player in the trade. Obviously, I'd rather take that deal than let him walk.

Wood at center doesn't improve this team. Dude is very overrated on this board. We are better with Time Lord.

Curious about what people want the team to look like next year. Through free agency acquisitions, trades, whatever.

1. I think Kanter will be traded. Brad doesn't seem to value his skill-set, and his salary is super tradeable to the right team. Many have proposed to Memphis - sounds good to me. Get a trade exception.

2. Sign & trade Hayward (4 years, $90m) to Indiana for Myles Turner & Doug McDermott. Not ideal, and I'm no fan of Turner, but he's a potential trade chip down the track and could be better under Brad.

3. Sign Alec Burks with the MLE and Ersan Ilyasova with the BAE, if he'd take it. If he wouldn't, try James Ennis. Sign Boogie Cousins with the Vet Min.

That would leave us with this team:

Kemba Walker / Payton Pritchard / Tremont Waters
Marcus Smart / Romeo Langford / Carsen Edwards
Jaylen Brown / Alec Burks / Aaron Nesmith
Jayson Tatum / Doug McDermott / Ersan Ilyasova
Myles Turner / Daniel Theis / DeMarcus Cousins

Ojeleye and Tacko as depth. If Boogie shows he can still play then that team is really strong.

Which way would you guys like us to play this free agency period?

What happened to the 2 Williams?

No Grant or Timelord?

I dont think any major splash will happen.  Wyc preparing to pay Tatum max.

C -  Timelord - Giles - Gwilliams - O'Quinn - Fall

F - Tatum - GWilliams - Ojeleye

F - Brown - Nesmith

G - Smart - Langford - Green

G - Walker - Pritchard - Edwards - Waters

* Kanter traded
* Harry Giles mle
* Kyle O'Quinn vet min

No Theis?

Nope.  If he comesback he instantneously becomes Stevens pet at the 5. We cant have that vs Heat, Bucks etc

Timelord needs to take it to the next level.  I really do think Giles will be coming over. Especially since he is very close with Tatum, and childhood friends with Grant Williams. Probably someone Danny had his eye on since HS as well

He was solid for a stretch of 30 plus games for Kings last season.  They went 16-16 with no other center able to play.  Still only 22 years old.

Where does this hatred of Daniel Theis come from??? Sure he's a tad undersized and doesn't have elite strength or explosiveness, but this is a very well-rounded centre who can block shots and is very comfortable when moving in space. Add in decent passing, finishing and shooting and this is actually a decent starting centre.

You said the same thing about Wendell Carter.

Woods averaged 13.1 ppg over 62 games last year in 21.4 minutes.
He shot .567/.386/.744 The dude can shoot and take people off the dribble
When they played him more at the end of the year, he exploded.

Williams scored 5.2 ppg in 13.4 minutes (mostly dunks), without a single 3

No one knows for sure what Christian Wood is because he has improved so quickly, but if he can keep his head together, he is several levels more talented than Robert Williams. Unless Woods turns out to have persistent personal issues, there is no universe where Timelord is a better player.

Note "starting centre" being the "decent". A decent starting centre is a pretty good player - it would suggest that he's a top 10-20 centre in the league.

If Timelord can't earn minutes over Theis, that's a problem with Timelord, not Theis or Brad. We're not a lottery team that should be focused on throwing young guys to the wolves and just taking the losses if/when they fail, ESPECIALLY in the playoffs.

Theis is still the best center on this team, and should continue to get 24mpg. That still leaves plenty of time for the Williams' and/or a guy like Giles, there's no reason to further weaken our weakest position.
I'm bitter.

I would say it's two different things but mostly #1.

1. Theis doesn't fit the archetype of a traditional center and a lot of people go back to what they were taught about positions when they initially learned the game.

2. The last memory people have of Theis playing is, Theis getting killed by Bam and it partily costing us a trip to the NBA finals.

I hope the Celtics are either able to keep Hayward or get a return for him. However, I like to plan for the worst and hope for the best so this rotation includes only getting a TPE for Hayward that we won't use this offseason.

PG- Kemba, Jeff Teague (vet min), Pritchard
SG- Smart, Connaughton (1/2 of MLE), Romeo
SF- Brown, Nesmith, Ojeyele
PF- Tatum, JaMychal Green (1/2 MLE), G. Williams
C- Theis, R. Williams, Noah Vonleh (vet min)

Waters and Tacko come back on two ways.

That team is deeper than last year, but will need internal improvement to continue to be a contender (which I think they will get)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

Love everything about this plan. Ersan would be great at that price but McD is a similar player so I’d spend that money elsewhere. I think we need better bench depth at the point guard slot to start as well.

1. Sign and trade Hayward for Turner and McD

2. Move Kanter and Semi (and I think we need one more contract out ala Javante, did he get waived?) for George Hill

3.Use the Taxpayer MLE on one of Moe Harkless, Rodney Hood, Kent Bazemore and the BAE on Burks

Walker/Hill/Pritchard
Smart/Burks/Langford
Brown/Harkless/Nesmith
Tatum/McDermott/GWilliams
Turner/Theis/RWilliams

I think it boils down to Hayward.

Team if he goes to Indiana will have Turner and McDermott and will use MLE on a pg

Team if he goes to Atlanta or NYK will have, IMO, Wood and Millsap signed and traded into the TPE it would create.

Kemba/PP/Edwards
Brown/Smart/Romeo
Tatum/Nesmith/Semi or Green
Wood/Millsap/GrantW
Theis/Kanter/Timelord

That is the most logical lineup if we get a TPE

Kemba/PP/MLE
Smart/Romeo/Edwards
Brown/Nesmith/Semi
Tatum/McDermott/GrantW/
Turner/Theis/Timelord

Kanter sent for a TPE or a cheap 3rd PG if Hayward is traded to Indiana.

I prefer the TPE option, but am OK I guess with the Indiana Option
