That can’t be true as it would mean that Gordon took a huge pay cut because of the hard capping of Indy

I think it's generally assumed he's going to be taking at least somewhat of a paycut.  Nobody is giving him $34 million annual.  The long term stability is the incentive for him to opt out and sign a new deal.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

If he wants to go back home that badly (to leave Boston), I can see him taking a $10M paycut up front to make it on the back end of a 4-5 year deal.

My question...If we assume tuner and McDermott for GH,  What would we have to do cap wise to S&T for Christian Wood from Detroit at about $15m/year for 3 years.  Does the GH deal get us enough under the cap to not have to fully match his salary.  Thinking RW and Kanter as a starting point...but if we have to match it gets ugly.

if he goes anywhere but Indy ,  he may wind up moving around the league with the huge family .  Somehow i don t think he wants alot of that .   He needs to give in some to Indy , so they can do a deal .....overwise he may go to a bunch of teams he might not like to finish his career at  .... just my pondering thoughts .  Another injury might just make people totally turned off and he could be trade bait .  His stock is low , and he and his agent are fighting history .

If that’s the case then it’s probably Indiana or Boston that makes the most sense for him? The possibility of him taking a nice pay cut in exchange for a longer contract would give us more flexibility to sign a good free agent?

That's what I wonder. Does he look at what happened with Al? Got the big money but ended up in a less than ideal situation only to be shipped to the middle of the plain fields a year later. That's partially why I think the Knicks are a terrible option for him. They're so unstable as a franchise and he'll never survive the media blow back - especially with the Nets outshining the Knicks. I don't see the basketball fit or the lifestyle fit.

The NBA is investigating the Bucks and Kings because a S&T occurred before the end of the moratorium.

Teams are going to be smart enough not to let this stuff leak, and it won’t be sports talk radio idiots breaking it.

I feel like  I keep reliving the same/similar nightmare -- Celtics miss out on top FA; Celtics star signs with another team; Lakers sign elite FA; elite player gets himself traded to the Lakers... on and on.

Have to admit it felt good to get the Hayward and Kemba signings but C's (like most teams) always trying to hang onto to what they have, try to make up for roster losses, try to gebt better incrementally...  while elite players fall into the Lakers lap.

TP ....this is todays NBA ^

Maybe Ainge is just not as good as we think he is.
