That is rough.
awful actually.

Think they will push even harder to bring in a wing now?

I like Klay and wish him the all the best and a speedy recovery.

If this is another season ending injury for him, Golden State will have signed him to the worst contract in league history.

2019/20 - $32,742,000 (Missed entire season)
2020/21 - $35,361,360 (May miss entire season)
2021/22 - $37,980,720
2022/23 - $40,600,080
2023/24 - $43,219,440
     Total - $189,903,600

Between the ACL injury in the 2019 Finals and this Achilles injury, I can't imagine he will ever be the player he used to be again.

It's almost as if the Golden State Warriors sold their souls to the devil when they acquired Kevin Durant, and the payments to the devil started with the 2019 Finals. I believe that's when they lost Durant to his Achilles injury, Klay with his ACL. The next season, Curry injured his hand and missed most of the season. Durant left for New Jersey.

I'm not sure who Golden State can bring in. Klay takes up a massive amount of the cap, and the team is already in salary cap hell with the luxury tax. I brought this up in another thread, but I believe I saw the luxury tax bill already this season is around $40-50M, and could balloon upwards of $150M is they add a certain amount of salary (and it's not much). Don't forget, the #2 pick makes about $9M, and with essentially no training camp and with the long layoff for college players, I can't see Wiseman having much impact this season.

They have a 17 mill TPE.
They can trade Wiseman once he is signed (about 9 million)

But unfortunately they cannot be combined in a deal otherwise it would work for a resigned Hayward.

Speaking of that $17M trade exception, I believe that was mentioned as one of the things that could trigger a huge increase in their luxury tax bill if Golden State ended up exercising it.

Such a bummer.  I was really looking forward to the Warriors comeback tour this season.

I know some people think it's karma for how they demolished the league with Durant in 17 and 18.  All I care about is that the Curry / Klay / Dray Warriors are one of the most fun teams I've ever watched and I want them back.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

At this point what choice do they have.

Huerter would be a really good fit there; he reminds me of Klay. Wonder if they try to work out some deal with ATL? Wonder if we could get involved?

Seems like a lot of pressure on GSW management to do something significant.  If Wiseman was Danny's target (not sure I buy that, but whatever), do a sign and trade of Hayward and Nesmith for Wiseman and Wiggins?

I bet GSW would do that.

Should we?

Hayward and Filler for Wiggins, Wiseman and a boatload of future picks.

The suggested trade of Hayward and Nesmith gives up too much.  Hayward would clearly be the best player in the proposed trade AND we would be helping GSW by allowing them to get out of Wiggins' crazy contract.

With the injury to Klay, Golden State may insist on Nesmith to help that 3 point shooting void, which would also help provide spacing for Curry.

I like Wiggins, but hate his contract. I think I would need him to a third team.

Hayward and Timelord for Wiggins, Wiseman and that Minny pick next year. I will do that.

But again look to move Wiggins. (Chicago, Charlotte, Detroit, Pelicans, Spurs, Kings all could use him, imo)

Love for Klay Thompson almost happened once, why not actually do it this time.  Cavs can afford to wait for Klay and Love would be an interesting fit on the Warriors giving them an interesting 3 big rotation with Love, Dray, and Wiseman.  Can still move Wiseman and Wiggins as well, but would still be relevant with Love.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Really kicking a guy when he is down though isnt it?

Ruptured you Achilles, rupture your other Achilles, now you get to go to Cleveland.
