Celtics Acquire: James Harden + Myles Turner

Rockets Acquire: Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, T.J Warren + pick #30 from Boston

Pacers Acquire: Gordon Hayward, pick #14 from Boston

Somehow it actually works in the NBA Trade Machine lol.

It leaves the C's with something along the lines of Kemba/Harden/Tatum/Theis/Turner as your starting 5. With that said, the bench is still a bit thin IMO. I guess you have Romeo and Timelord, I think Wanamaker and then guys like Ojeyele, Tacko, Waters and Edwards at the end of the bench. Maybe you can add someone like Baynes or re-sign Kanter with the MLE?

But what this also does is clear the room for the C's to then max Tatum, so going forward you'd have a "Big 4" potentially of Harden, Tatum, Kemba and Turner. Turner on a sizable contract, the other three on maxes.

Thoughts? Yeah it's complicated and kind of egregious but again, I'm bored lol.

Add pick #26 from Boston to Indiana makes it a little more fair ?

Houston would have to really believe Jaylen has another level he can reach if he is allowed to become the lead dog. I don't think that is the case, but who knows, maybe the new management in Houston does.  Even then, they'd probably want the #14, not #30 from Boston.  But it might actually be in the ballpark of what Houston would consider.

But I don't even like the trio of Kemba/Harden/Tatum.  Kemba will be relegated to a spot-up shooter most of the time and the defense from him and Harden will be atrocious.  Theis-Turner also seems like a space killing front court if I have ever seen one in today's NBA.  Sure, they can both hit a three, but defenses aren't following them out there.  They have very little gravity.

Okay what about Smart/Harden/Tatum? Every line up looks better WITHOUT Kemba. Kemba is a good player he’s just not needed with a team whom already has scorers.

See I thought about that. But my guess is, Houston would prefer Smart + Brown over Kemba. And also, some have pointed out that it may be bad optics if you trade away Kemba after just 1 year in a place that hasn't had the history of attracting marquee FA's. The difference with Horford and Hayward is that they played here 3 years and by all means it seems they'll have left by opting-out or opting-in and agreeing to a trade which would be the case if Hayward leaves.

If we could get Turner and TJ Warren for Hayward and #14, I stop right there and take the deal.  I would be very happy with that.

Then let Houston and Indy work out a deal for Harden if they want.  I get that Harden is a star but you have to build the whole team around him and I don't want to see the Celtics do that.

I honestly just hate the idea of trading Jaylen. He seems like the perfect complementary all-star in today's NBA. If there was any possible way to trade Kemba/Smart/picks to acquire Harden - maybe in a 3-team deal, not necessarily to the Rockets - then, I'd feel a lot more comfortable about our team's composition. I am certainly not in the 'drive Kemba out of town' camp, but Jaylen would seemingly fit a lot better next to Harden/Tatum than Kemba. Probably no chance of happening, but Kemba/Smart/picks seems like a better return than the rumored Nets trade of Dinwiddie/LaVert/Allen/Prince.

I'm also bored so I will raise you.

Celtics trade: Smart, Walker, Hayward, picks 14, 26, 30, 47, and 2021 1st.
for
Giannis, Bledsoe, Turner, McBuckets

Pacers trade: Oladipo, McBuckets and Turner
for
Hayward, Smart, pick 26 and 47.

Bucks trade Giannis and Bledsoe
for
Walker, Oladipo, pick 14, 30, and a 2021 1st.

Teams' starters
C's
Bledsoe, Brown, Tatum, Giannis, Turner

Pacers
Brogdon, Smart, Hayward, Warren, Sabonis

Buck's
Walker, Oladipo, Middleton, Ilya, Lopez

(Of course only works if Giannis demands a trade to C's.)

James Harden is the human incarnation of Shawn Marion's jumpshot.

No thanks. I'd prefer to enjoy watching the Celtics.

I'd love that too. Turner fills a need, you can add another big (like Baynes) for the MLE, and Warren would be awesome to have off the bench. Makes a lot of sense.

Starters: Kemba/Brown/Tatum/Theis/Turner

Bench: Smart/MLE/Romeo/Timelord/GWill

- Trade #1

- Trade #2

- Trade Theis for cap relief + future pick(s). I'm dumping him only because we'd be hard capped at the apron.
- Draft Saddiq Bey at #14.
- Draft Sam Merrill at #47.
- Sign Nerlens Noel for the minimum (not sure whether it would be enough).
- Trade Poirier + cash to the Wolves for a top 55 protected future second round pick.
- Fill the 2 remaining roster spots with the Bucks pick and 1 rookie minimum contract.

PG: Jrue - Smart -
SG: Brown - Romeo - Merrill
SF: Hayward - S. Bey - Semi
PF: Tatum - Grant - Melli
C: Wood - Noel -

1. Hayward $34,187,085

Well your back court defense is going to be really bad, even Tatum who is good overall defensively has never been a shut down point of attack guy. You suddenly go from having more good wing guys than any team to having two few. I don't think Theis and Turner as your starting front court is ideal given that they shot 30% and 34% from three respectively and you dont wnat eitehr guarding wings/guards full time in small lineups. Kemba/Harden/Tatum is also not optimum given all three guys really like to have the ball in their hands.

I think any trade has to involve either Smart OR Hayward, not both. That probably means you don't get Turner but that's fine.

Smart/Jaylen + all the picks you can offer is the trade. WHICH I WOULD HATE. Because I don't love Hardens game and Smart/Jaylen are my two favorite Celtics.
