Time for Ainge to retire.

Because a free agent took insane money?

No. Because he walked for nothing. My guess is Danny could’ve had a deal with the Pacers for whatever reason didn’t do it. Now while they might get the full MLE who’s out there to even to get?

Ainge will rebound.  Happy for Hayward.  He had a tough 3 years and still got paid.  Wish he was still with Celtics.

Big question now is how Charlotte clears out $10m in salary going out to take in Hayward. S&T for Terry Rozier’s $18m or Cody Zeller’s $14m the easiest path. Could combine Malik Monk and Miles Bridges with a Martin bro as well. That would be a nice haul.
spotrac shows their cap space at like 20.5 million. If that is accurate they don't need to clear 10 million since Hayward won't start at 30 million in year 1. Still have to clear some, but they could get out of 5 million without a ton of difficulty
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Time for Ainge to retire.

He brought in 3 all-star free agents in 4 seasons:

Unfortunately, the first two left the first chance they got. Not sure what that says about the organization.

Good grief. Clearly there was nothing we could do with Hayward wanting that money. Indy wasn’t paying him anywhere close to that either, so this was likely less of Danny’s doing abd more Hayward favoring money over everything else.

If it ever gets leaked that Ainge passed on turner and McDermott by playing hardball and that is the reason Hayward signed with Charlotte I absolutely feel he should be fired.

I have a feeling Hayward choose Charlotte because he was sick of waiting on Ainge and the Pacers to figure it out.

Sickening we get nothing out of this

Naw. Bet you the standstill was GH wanting $$$

He had Hornets 120 in the bag. And wanted to see if Pacers could match. In addition salary match

Celts didnt want Turner and Lamb  or Mcdermott + McConnell.   I believe Gasper on this one. Celts wanted Warren

I suspect Hayward wanted $120 million and the Pacers were willing to match it.  The holdup likely wasn’t the Pacers trade offer, but what they were willing to offer Hayward.

IF Pacers couldnt pay 30 m and wanted the Celts to pay 20 million compensation (5m per season) for Turner and McDermott

Lets analyze this. Even if Danny didnt want Turner and Mcdermott.. you are telling me he couldnt get at least a future 1st and 2nd for Turner.  Like a late 1st for Mcdermott??

In this regard Danny choked....  he could have also traded for cap space . I mean such a deal would be complicated. But Celts come out with something

Fak Ainge for messing this up..

I would have been fine with just Turner honestly but he was too greedy..

Wyc is probably fuming we didnt get anything....just plain incompetence.

It says that a salary cap exists.

No! because Ainge continues to “not solidify the bench” and better yet take a chance on a free agent that might help the bench or the starting lineup

Nope. Seeing that contract, that looks like neither Boston nor Indy were willing to get anywhere near that number. Nothing either of them could do.

Now what? How much money does Boston have to spend to fill out the bench?

Yeah?  Did you see any reports of him agreeing to terms with Indiana?  Or that they were offering $30 million?

Yup.  And is also what most people do in their own lives as well.  I don't blame Gordo, and not really DA either, except it would be nice to have a better feel for who out there is a potential suitor.  I mean I would rather have Turner than nothing, but if the 120 mil was on the table DA might have not even had a choice.  Hayward has to agree to resign to the the S&T.
