I wonder if the holdup was neither Boston or Indy was willing to pay this much.

100 percent.  And either Pacers were stuck at 100 and or Celts didnt want to take back Turner, Lamb leftover

He signed in Charlotte his first free agency only to have Utah match.  So he and the family clearly like the area.  And Charlotte gives him a starting job and young guys to mentor in addition to the money.

I also think Ainge was playing hardball with Indy and now the C's have nothing.  Failure by Ainge

Well if so, Boston and Indy were SMART for not doing so.  $30mil for 4 years for Hayward.  Who wants to pay him that last $60 million when he is 33/34 years old?
Not DA that is for sure.

Wow Woj Bomb Hayward to Charlotte!!

Yup.

Hayward goes for the money. Al Horford style

I knew he was being too greedy ... cant blame Danny (or Pacers)

Greedy?  How many times have you turned down $120 million?

He is greedy and it is not his fault either. But lets ponder

He doesnt care about winning.  Doesnt want to play for the Pacers for 25 million per season

Signing 120m with the lowly Hornets... who likely are no playoff threat = greedy for $$$

He chose financial security for himself and his family.  Almost anyone offered the same proposition takes it.

You're just bitter and projecting.  Nothing more.

Remember we did the Hornets a solid last year in the Rozier sign and trade.  Hopefully we get something back from them.  Does anybody have an accurate site for Hornets salaries and roster?  hoopshype seems way off.

I predicted this would happen last night.  The pacers NEVER seemed actually want Hayward.  NEVER.

And Hayward backed himself into a corner as far as coming back to Boston.  So the only choice he had IMO was to go for a big money offer where he could get it.

Even though Hornets have cap space it's not enough to get Hayward 30 million.

Good for him. That is a good deal.

Wish I could feel good about it.  I really couldn't care less about him (though I certainly don't blame him for taking the deal and don't wish him ill) -- financially my guess he's pretty secure, seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a nice family life.  Him getting lots more money doesn't make me happy for him.  I'm bummed that the C's get nothing in return (that's what I'm assuming) -for another solid/all-star player (now 3 in a row).
