It’s funny because the majority of people on the Pacers message boards don’t want Hayward.

For turner only they’ll settle but anything more or in addition turns their interest to no thanks

Ya I've seen the same thing, at this point its going to be a PR nightmare for Indy if they come anywhere close to Danny'asking price.

going rumor on BST is that Indy, GH and Danny are working toward a deal but the hangup is supposedly Indy offering Turner and Dougie but Danny wants either Dipo or Warren instead of Dougie.  extra speculation that middle ground is for the C's to get Aaron Holiday instead.  General commentary is that Turner isn't as good as some people are pumping up and that Hayward is better than he's being given credit for.

with Atlanta out of the running, it's down to basically Indy/Danny making a deal OR GH says screw this and signs with the Knicks short term to hit the FA market next offseason OR he just comes back to Boston.

With the pick up of Nesmith and the difference in contract amounts, I think we would probably be better off just going with Holiday over Doug. He would fill an immediate need as a back-up PG (and fill in starter should we give Kemba some games off) and it would pretty much guarantee us staying under the tax. Two more years on the contract and we would hold his Bird Right, also.

Hayward declining his $34M option to sign with the Knicks for less money on a one year contract would be a worst-case scenario for him and his family. I can't see that as a possibility at this point.

If it did come down to the Knicks or here, the devil you know is better than the one you don't - so to me that's a no brainer.  The question is the terms.  1 year and a player option?

Gordon would get eaten alive in NYK. If Gordon really wants Indy, Danny holds all the leverage right now.

If they win games all will be forgiven. And with Holiday-Brogdon-Warren-Hayward-Sabonas they will.

I’d rather have Holiday than McDermott, too, but I think the Pacers really like him.

Now we know why he opted out. He wouldn’t have if he didn’t know this was on the table.

Idk what to make of the Knicks element. Otherwise I’d be pretty happy.

Still think the Knicks thing is mainly a leverage tactic.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I think it would be in Ainge's best interest to trade Hayward than give him a new contract with the Celtics even if he wants to stay (doubt it).

We've already lost a big, and good players out there are becoming scarce as more bottom-dwelling players are left. A trade for a quality big is imminent at this point. Unload Hayward now.

I agree. I don’t get the more money/less years. Not sure why Hayward would do that rather than taking 4 years/100. I think at the point it’s Hayward to Indy for Turner + something. I also am conflicted about the “re-signing w/Boston option.” Woj mentioned this as an option on by just now as well. It doesn’t sound like there is the animosity between sides that the media made it out to be the other day.
