It’s funny because the majority of people on the Pacers message boards don’t want Hayward.

For turner only they’ll settle but anything more or in addition turns their interest to no thanks

The longer this goes on the more chance there is he comes back to Boston.

I’m a Hayward fan but at this point I just want to move on, the ship has sailed.

Wondering if people would rather have Hayward at 4/80 (hypothetically),or turner and McDermott at this point

So Boston is in as good of a position here as possible.   Either Hayward resigns or the Pacers up their offer.

Yeah its looking like Hayward's options (NY and Atlanta) dried up and the Pacers dont have the cap space to sign him. If so, Ainge played this perfectly.

Atlanta is no longer an option, but NY still is. They haven't signed anyone and I don't put any stock in rumors about NY "giving up".

Only thing we know is that most likely destinations are Indy, NY and Boston. The first because of Haywards apparent desire to play there, the second bc of cap room and the third bc he's already here.

If I had to guess, I'd say he goes to Indy in a S&T. If he wanted to go to NY, he'd (probably) be there by now. If he wanted to be in Boston, it (probably) would already be done.

Same page. It's probably best to move on.

Yeah, Ainge was probably like, "yeah, I'll totally trade you in a s&t if you opt of your contract." And now he's like, "well, we now don't like what they have to offer and the market has dried up." Ainge is like blowing up the leverage meter right now.

To jppats: I would love Hayward back on a $20M/yr over 4 year deal.

Greatly prefer Turner & McDermott. We need the depth and Hayward is not enough of a "star" to keep around.

GH still unsure

This is a slow FA

Well, it’s been 19 minutes since teams can talk to free agents.  Since the NBA is cracking down on tampering, teams will slow play it, at least officially.

GH really opted out of 34 million and took a gamble he will get paid??

I'm skeptical ...

He may end up with more money overall by opting out and signing a longer term contract for less overall money due to Covid's impact on this season's revenues. He's not getting $34m this season because of Covid's impact on the league's revenues. Everyone's salary is going to take a hit.

Wonder if Indy caves. Saw a report saying Indy views Warren as a “cornerstone” player which is pretty fun. Warren is a nice player but think this conversation happens if he didn’t have that ridiculous two week hot streak in the bubble?

Turner/Warren would be good return for Hayward. He’s easily the best player in that deal.

Anyone else nervous that by the time this gets sorted out all the good FAs will sign with new teams and the Cs will be left with nothing

I think they should sign Wood to the MLE while they negotiate.  Adds a level of leverage to Indy as well as we "need the deal" less as well.

I realize neither is likely, but if we ended up with Hayward and Wood in the end, that really would be the best case scenario.

The money seems to be flowing right now. Jaylen Brown and Smart are looking crazy bargains right now.

Yeah quite a lot of us were saying that those deals were absolute bargains when they were signed.
