Atlanta gets: Smart, #14, 26, 30 2020 picks, Semi Ojeleye, Carson Edwards

Boston gets: Kevin Huerter, #6 2020 pick

There is a rumour that Hawks ownership has put pressure on the Hawks GM and coaching staff to make the playoffs so are willing to trade the 6th pick.

They apparently want Jrue Holiday 13th pick for 6th pick and Huerter. This package imo is as just as good and Smart is more of an age appropriate piece.

Talent-wise this seems like a good deal, but do you really want to go to battle without Smart? I just love his fire.

Yikes.

I’d have trouble trading Smart for Hueter and the 6 alone. We also send three firsts? And two young’s on cheap contracts?

Hard pass.

Not sure there is anyone there at #6 that I would trade Smart straight up for. Wiseman (if he were there) is the only one I feel kinda good about - albeit still risky.

Massive overpay.

Huerter is a nice player. Bad defense average offense. But if you figure that 14 + 26 + 30 = 6, and I think that is pretty close, then you are trading Smart, Ojeleye and Edwards for Huerter, which, like I said, is a ridiculous overpay.

Watching Huerter play defence I think his stats look bad because similar to Avery Bradley playing next to IT, Huerter has to overcompensate playing next to the worst defensive player in the league (Trae Young). Huerter minimum would offer some reliable scoring off the bench which we sorely missed this season.

With the picks, you’ve got to remember #26, 30 are essentially second rounders.

With the 6th pick Ainge can grab any talent that drops like a Wiseman, Patrick Williams, Haliburton ect.

I was high on Kevin Huerter at the draft. Maybe next year could be a break-out year for him?

The Hawks would take this deal and I don't think the Celtics should.
However we could easily draft some busts at #26 and #30, while I don't care at all for Ojeleye and Edwards (any value they provide in a trade is a bonus for me).

Who would be the best player available at #6? Okongwu, Vassell or Haliburton?

For example the trade essentially could be:

Huerter + Okongwu or Smart + S. Bey + #26 + #30 (+ Edwards + Ojeleye)

If Okongwu available at 6, have to consider it. Try keeping 26 pick.

We can’t get traction trading up with 3 picks according to reports.

14, 26, and 30 doesn't equal 6. The last time the 6th pick was traded it was for 11 and Dario Saric.  That has more value than 14, 26, 30 and doesn't account for the fact the Hawks want to push for the playoffs so they don't want draft picks.

Due to the lack of talent at the top of this draft and that the talent level is pretty flat from the top right down to out of the lottery, in this particular draft if 14 + 26 + 30 =/= 6 it's dang close.

Also,@footey, just because there is no traction for a consolidation trade up right now, doesn't mean there won't be some in a week to ten days and it doesn't prove that 14 + 26 + 30 =/= 6, it just proves teams in those draft spots don't want to trade down.

Smart for Collins makes so much sense for both teams.
This trade is invalid financially, unfortunately.

Normally yes, but the Hawks would have sufficient cap space to absorb a larger salary.

ATL has more than max cap space; they can easily absorb Smart. If we could lock up Collins for a reasonable amount, then I agree it would make some sense; at least we would have his Bird rights
