  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
As it's mentioned, this is a the way too early edition of this. The loss and exit is still fresh, but I know some of us already has some ideas as to what we can do to improve this team moving forward and maybe get over the hump next year.

Lay it out, ladies and gents, what do you have?

I'm going to sleep on it and post my detailed thoughts tomorrow, but one thing should 1000% be done right this second.

I think we'll see mostly the same team.

I would love to see Danny get creative and maybe look at trading Kemba or Hayward for a handful of guys who can give the team a little bit of a different look.

Implement an offence that is heavy on off-ball movement and passing to create easy looks and augment it with the on-ball action we currently have (eg. high PnR).

I'm gonna go with suggestions, because predictions are near-impossible (who saw us signing Kemba and Kanter coming?)

Trade no.1: https://tradenba.com/trades/I2HX7zg0H

      Boston receives: Nikola Vucevic

Orlando receives: Gordon Hayward, Romeo Langford, pick #26

Why for Orlando: receive a huge expiring contract and get rid of Vucevic's big contract, which doesn't fit with the age profile of Isaac, Gordon, Bamba and Fultz. Get a guy just picked in the lottery and another first round pick.

Why for Boston: get an elite offensive big-man who can pass, rebound, shoot and score, and he's not a terrible defender (underrated in my opinion because he's unathletic). Tough to move Hayward given his rotten luck but at least he gets to be taxed less, right? ;)

Trade no.2: https://tradenba.com/trades/ukhXbIVE6

      Dallas receives: Kemba Walker

Boston receives: Tim Hardaway Jr., Seth Curry & Justin Jackson

Why for Dallas: based on the presumption that a) Hardaway takes his PO and b) they believe Giannis when he says he won't leave Milwaukee, I think Dallas would realise that they need a 3rd wheel. Got exposed in the playoffs without KP and with Doncic hobbled. Still leaves them with DFS, Brunson, Dwight Powell and Boban as role players.

Why for Boston: adds some much much needed shooting in Hardaway and Curry, who are both comfortable starting and coming off the bench. Sheds significant money without Kemba, and Jackson is immediately a better Ojeleye.

Draft Kira Lewis Jr. or Tyrell Terry at 14, and Xavier Tillman at 30.

Try and sign a guy like Korkmaz, Glenn Robinson III or Alec Burks in free agency

I'm not even sure these trades and signings are realistic, fair nor smart. But I think a team of the following is quite solid. Really just an excuse to vent about what I want more than anything

Smart / Lewis Jr / Waters
Brown / Curry / Edwards
Hardaway / Burks / Jackson
Tatum / G Williams / Tillman
Vucevic / Theis / R Williams
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Obviously keep Tatum, Brown and Smart...Kemba too, unless something crazy if offered....Hayward has to go, trade him to Indiana, didn't his family just move there?

Unload all the stiffs...which is like 9 guys.

Not sure why people are gung ho on the idea of trading Hayward. His skillset is perfect next to the Jays and Kemba - his ability to shoot, pass and create without dominating the ball allows him to add value to our offence without taking away from the on-ball value of Kemba and the Jays. I'd keep our core 5 and try to use the MLE/Kanter/flotsam/picks to acquire 2-3 quality rotation players.

I like the vucevic idea.  He's a flawed player but he's been productive for a long time and he would definitely add a new dimension.  Would be interested to see how he'd look under brad stevens.

Suggestion:
1. Keep Tatum, Brown, Kemba
2. Keep Theis and Grant too
3. Retool the team around them, dangling Hayward/Smart if needed

Prediction:
C’s run it back, changing some end of bench guys, then we lose in the ECF again to Milwaukee or Brooklyn. We’ll say our customary “our guys are still too young, their time will come”.

He's a big salary and he'll be expiring.

Honestly as much as I like hayward I don't think his skillet is different enough from what Jayson and jaylen do. The Celtics need to add some guys who will force it inside and play with an edge late in a game.

I'm a little bit frightened about how he might age, in terms of injuries. Innocuous knocks seem to do a lot of damage to him. But I do love his fit - one bad game while underdone by injury does not a player make.

Shooting off the bench like GR3, Burks or Korkmaz and a big man (Baynes come back!) could be all the retooling we need really. Who knows. I'm sure DA is going over all his options

I don't think anything would hurt more than losing to Kyrie.

Beating him, however, would be so legendary

Hayward's been a liability for most of his tenure as a Celtic, and with that type of money, he's just gotta go. Tatum/Brown is already good enough.

Kemba is next on my dump list if he continues to put up 8-10ppg and playing conservatively in the playoffs

It’s his contract. It’s big enough to get an impact player in another position. If Hayward was making Wanamaker money? I think we’d all be in love with him.

We need front court players and outside shooters. Right now we have a bunch of guys who think they are shooters because their Dad (CBS) told them they’re allowed to shoot. But they aren’t.

Now that teams are realizing the only team that can play like they have Curry and Klay is the team that actually has Curry and Klay, the NBA is going big again, but with athletic bigs that also have court vision.

Everyone whose first name doesn’t start with a J is tradeable
