See what happens when Boston realize they are not led by Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and hoist up tons of 3's? Been screaming this for years now. I know , I know, the league has changed analytics blah blah. Fact of the matter is when we limit 3's and take higher percentage shots and attack the rim (ESPECIALLY JAYLEN BROWN). We see the results. I'm going to go ahead and call game 5 a win. No way Raptors are coming back. Hopefully they keep this same energy and close out for game 6. On the flipside cheering hard for Miami. I Believe C's match up better with miami as opposed to bucks.

We’ve shot 27 threes tonight, which puts us on pace for 36.

Game 1: 39
Game 2: 38
Game 3: 29
Gams 4: 35

Confirmation bias?

By the title, I expected this to be about the difference between Kemba and Kyrie.  That’s a difference I notice every night.

That too. lol  I wasn't necessarily a Kyrie hater but I guess I have to admit Kemba fits better.

Once again we're crushing them in points in the paint. Difference tonight is we're hitting our open 3s

Yes I'm biased. i'm not keeping tabs on 3's attempted but from watching this game as opposed to game 4 there seems to be more emphasis on attacking the basket. Game 4 they were hoisting up a ton of bad 3's. game 3  7-35 . I remember last years debacle against the Bucks. Horrible 3 point shooting. I just wish they'd attack the basket more. Toronto really has no answers with Tatum, Brown & Walker penetrating and constantly attacking the rim.

so you mean you will accept good three that come from penetrate and kick-outs?

I talked about this after Game 4, but this is what’s meant by “make or miss”.

In Game 4, we got great looks.  Was it 22 uncontested 3PTs?  We just missed open shots.

Tonight, we hit those shots.  However, if we mapped the shots, my guess is that Game 5 looks similar to Game 4.  We just hit instead of missed.

I do think the first half defensive intensity was difference tonight.  It’s been good all season, but tonight they came out like the ‘08 Celts.

Analytics advocate attacking the rim as much as possible though? The narratives about analytics never cease to amaze me

I just posted this in the game thread. It's really a make miss league...here's the FG% and 3FG% over the series so far.

Code: [Select]
Boston Toronto
Game Score FG FG% 3FG 3FG% FG FG% 3FG 3FG%
Game 1 BOS 112 TOR 94 39-83 47% 17-39 44% 31-84 37% 10-40 25%
Game 2 BOS 102 TOR 99 32-76 42% 15-38 40% 36-90 40% 11-40 28%
Game 3 TOR 104 BOS 103 39-83 47% 9-29 31% 41-88 47% 13-40 33%
Game 4 TOR 100 BOS 93 33-75 44% 7-35 20% 34-86 40% 17-44 39%
Game 5 BOS 111 TOR 89 38-77 49% 11-34 32% 33-85 39% 12-40 30%

The stats I'm really interested in are locked away behind the Second Spectrum website, I'd like to know how many open looks we created per game as well as how many Toronto got. They eventually come out in the NBA.com site but only after a few days. That's a sign of how well our offensive and defensive schemes are working. Sometimes you make shots, sometimes you miss them but if you keep creating open looks it means that we're doing the right things on the court. Conversely if the other team keeps getting open looks, either at the perimeter (poor closeouts or pick and roll fails) or at the rim (transition baskets) then we're doing something wrong defensively

As long as we don't have a horrible shooting night in Game 6 and keep defending and making it hard for them to shoot their perimeter shots and keep Siakam and Ibaka from working inside I think we should win.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Kemba Walker is so freakin underrated. I love everything about him so much more than Kyrie and I didn’t notice it because he was in Charlotte.

Dude has a Dame-Lite underrated quality about him. I’m glad he is finding so much success and just having so much dang fun with this Celtics team.

I knda knew he was good because he did well against the Cs when he was with Charlotte.  Glad he is on the Cs you can never get tired of his wicked step backs.

I think his biggest attribute is his mindset...he's a very unselfish player willing to take a step back and sacrifice his own personal stats for the good of his team, and to help JT and JB develop. Same with Gordon...both All Star caliber players who don't have to be the primary option. But they can step up when needed. With Kyrie you knew he had to be the guy, the closer.
