Al is guaranteed $69.0 over three years. So...

1.  Al and Philly agree to a buyout for $56 million;

2.  Philly stretches Al for 7 years at $8 million;

3.  Boston signs Al to 3 year, $18 million contract using the Taxpayer MLE

Who says no?  (Probably Philly, who sticks it out one more year).

Unless they have someone lined up to sign with the cap space, stretching Al's money over 7 years would be a horrible choice. $8 million in dead money would cripple them over that period
I'm bitter.

I want no part of Al. Glad he is gone. He bailed on the Hawks then bailed on the C's. He claims it was a better shot at winning but that shows no loyalty. If he said it was for money I'd have more respect for that. He has now been apart of three team's very disappointing runs.

Here is an interesting idea.   What if the NBA with it's likely lower cap and tax numbers allows teams to waive one player where their money doesn't count towards the cap nor taxes for the rest of the length of the contract but the player still gets all the guaranteed money and can sign with another team?

They have to redo the CBA anyways.

I’m pretty sure that he did it for the money. Everybody knows that he did it for the money. It would have been foolish to turn down that money.

It’s revisionist history to now say that he didn’t believe in the Celtics or didn’t think they were a winning team. Although, after the chemistry disaster of last season, who could blame him if he did?

It's not revisionist history, it's a fact that Al said he left for a better chance at winning once to the C's then to the 76ers.

I’d hate to see Philly get bailed out, but I’d love to have Horford back.  He’s made for this offense, and his play didn’t really fall off that much.  He was simply out of position on a team that starts two centers and two power forwards.

As for somehow getting Al back?

Unless he would be willing to simply rebound, defend and facilitate we simply have TOO MANY mouths to feed as it is, now lol.

Coach Stevens is a MAESTRO for keeping GH, Kemba and The Jays happy thus far.

Additionally - MAHCUS needs his three point heaves, too - and DESERVES them.

The Jays are WELL on their way to becoming cornerstones of this franchise - with Kemba, GH and Smart providing KEY help as well.

We NOW have a Big Four - with Smart being our modern day KG.

Al's ship has sailed, IMO.

It wouldn't be a bail out for what is on the floor.   I am sure if the cap is dropping, they will not save enough to make a real FA splash.   Just saves the owner some money the next two seasons.

If Horford felt he had a better chance at winning in Philly, oh well. If he did not feel confident in Tatum and Brown and company, oh well.

Safe to say that Horford will most likely not be evaluating talent in the future as a GM unless he truly wants to follow in Jordan and IT's (Pistions IT)footsteps.

I for one, do not want him back now. I feel we do not need an elder C/PF next year. His time has passed from being a member of our team.

Yeah, I wouldn't want him on anything. At this stage, he's worse on defence than Theis and on offence it might be a wash. He'd also hamper RWill's chances.

Have fun in Philly Al

Whatever the reason, we dodged a bullet. End of day he had a different opinion of his value than Danny did, and Danny turned out to be right.

I don't hold a grudge against him though, he had to do the best for his family and himself. I've seen enough players leave to not get cut up about it. We made the best of the situation and came out ahead. Players always come and go but the team endures. What we need to make sure is that the team is always in a position to recover quickly from any personnel change. I wouldn't want to be in Philly's shoes right now, with 2 washed up players taking up 65m+ of their salary cap and very little flexibility.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I’m not into mind-reading.   He was offered tens of millions of dollars more.  That seems like reason enough.

This sums it up pretty good.

He was offered more money than we were willing to give him and he got peeved when we wouldn't match the other offer. Seems like there's no reason to read between the lines because there is nothing else there.
