I think that if Ainge believed for a second that Colangelo would pick Tatum, he would not have agreed to trade the No1 pick. But yes I'm sure it hurts.

In any case there's a number of other things Suxers fans can be unhappy about as well:

- traded Covington and Saric for 1 year of Buckets from MN. Buckets leaves for Miami at the end of the season
- was forced to max out Harris or lose him for (virtually) nothing like what happened with Buckets. Now 2nd most overpriced player on philly roster after Average Al
- let Redick go to NO when Philly desperately needed a shooter

Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I'll go with "other", and say that the worst is the league forcing them to fire Sam Hinkie, leading to them hiring Colangelo and Brand (who are responsible for all of those awful trades).

Yeah, Sam hinkie was tanking the team for picks, but at least he recognized the value of their assets
I'm bitter.

I went with other for two reasons. You have Joel Embiid and he is a nuisance for your team. He doesn't make teammates better, tries to control everything and it doesn't work, and is just a bad egg. He has a world of talent but his selfishness will never put him over the top.

More importantly, the thing that sucks worst for Philly fans is that Brett Brown is your head coach. Brett was hired to lose. During the process years, Philly hired Brown and basically said lose as many game as you can while we try and get multiple top five draft picks. When Philly finally started turning the corner a smidge, they left Brown in charge despite him bringing a losing attitude and culture to that locker room. That is something you can't shake. Brown needs to go (he's needed to go for at least 3-4 years) if Philly wants to do anything of substance. Being a Philly fan, this would be the worst. However, since I am a Celtics fan, I love it.

But I thought they wanted Fultz and not Tatum lol hence why Ainge wanted to trade and get that extra pick back.

And the Lakers, too, somehow thinking Lonzo Ball was gonna be part of their future- guess not.
you are correct. and i think that if ainge had kept the number one pick he intended to get tatum anyway. so, ainge got his man, at a lower salary, and another draft pick as well.

if i recall correctly, philly wanted fultz and was afraid that LA would select him at #2, leaving them with lonzo ball at #3. so they moved up the rest is history.  ;D

Part of me wishes Danny would have just taken Tatum #1. Would the Lakers have taken Fultz with the second pick? Would that have possibly effected LeBron's decision in any way and gone elsewhere? Given, LeBron may have still went to LA, but the Anthony Davis trade will have surely been different. No way Fultz had the same trade value of Lonzo Ball.

It would have been interesting, but it would have hurt us, too. Having the #3 pick rather than #1 saved us ~$1.5-2 million in cap space the past few summers, making it easier for us to bring in Hayward, Kemba, etc. We already had to trade AB to clear space to bring in Hayward, if you gave Tatum the #1 pick salary we might have needed to do more
I'm bitter.

I’m not really counting them out for next season because as long as they have Embiid and Simmons as trade bait they can look like a totally different team quickly. I do feel like Simmons + Harris can open up some interesting options from teams who are ready to rebuild.

I’m watching teams like OKC, Houston, Bulls, Utah, or even SPURS.

Pairing either Embiid or Simmons with a star off one of those teams will be game changing.

Levine
Richardson
Thybull
Larkinnen
Embiid

Just an example by using the bulls and trading Simmons.

This is assuming they also trade Horford + pick(s) to the Kings for Barnes.

The LibertyBallers' fanposts are all in complete meltdown, so it might be harder to narrow it down to just one specific thing. There are posts demanding they trade Embiid, trade Horford (one idea was Horford + a 1st for Hayward + a 1st, made me laugh out loud), trade Simmons, basically trade everyone. They're also coming for the head of Brand and Brown. There is absolutely no faith in their team from the fans it seems. Bad place to be.

One thing that I've noted as being omitted from basically all the posts is mention of them gifting us Tatum ;D
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

in my brief time there, what i saw by posters on the topic of fultz/tatum was that at the time picking fultz was perfect for that team's needs. and given the pre-draft hype who can disagree? who expected fultz to completely lose the ability to shoot?

next, they also acknowledge that tatum was not coming their way. if ainge had thought the sixers even thought about drafting tatum, ainge would not have made the trade.

i think they have hashed out that agreement for a while, which may be why you didnt see much on it.

Id so would rsther Embiid for this team than Simmons. I mean cmon Embiid, Tatum, Smart, Brown.... if Brown keeps improving playmaking that’s a death lineup!

I don't trust either of them at all. Embiid seems susceptible to conditioning issues and will probably age like milk

Think about it, we have Smart who can relieve the energy Embiid would need to exhaust on defense. We will have Brown and Tatum taking energy off of him on offense. He can take a lot of rest and just explode in spurts.

With the way Brad coaches and Smart motivates I don’t think Embiid would have a conditioning problem here. Plus I strongly believe Embiid has more friends on the Celtics than Philly lol  CHEMISTRY

I dunno, I don't think he'll ever be well-conditioned. He doesn't seem to have the work ethic to get in shape. He only started taking nutrition seriously in the last year or two.

That is true, but I think that's on Embiid. Heaps of Philly fans seem to think wherever he goes teammates dislike him. I wouldn't trade for him with his body and chemistry issues, given our chemistry is currently great
