Mitch Robinson?  Thomas Bryant? If we can't trade up to get Wisemen are either of these guys worth a shot for picks and filler?  I think either would be a decent athlete with decent potential on both O and D to pair with our young lineup.  Rwilliams, Theis, and either of these guys would be a good rotation at the 5 I think.  Better than VP or EK due to age, versatility, athleticism and cost .  Wiseman would be better ceiling I'd think, but very RAW.

Nicks are building around Robinson, so doubt he's available without giving up too much value.  I'm not very keen on Thomas Bryant.

Yep, Robinson isn't a "cheap option". Bryant is one of the worst pick n roll defenders around the league.

The Celtics already got 3 cheap options at the C position in Theis, Kanter and Timelord. Imo, G-Will can provide some cover at the 5 as well. Don't want us to make a trade just for the sake of it. If we cannot find the right deal, I'm happy with the players we've got.

They have 4-6 options, but I really do not think Kanter, Poirer, or fall(or Gwilliams for that matter) are long or even intermediate solutions at the 5.  The C's need more size to pair with theis and Rwilliams, or as an upgrade for either of them.  Holmes is another I have interest.  I'd love Ayton, but not willing to pay that price.  Need a young athletic big, and I'd spend alot of or most of my available ammo this offseason to get one.

As we give a little more than 14M for our bigs rotation, I don't tkink we wan go so much cheaper. I like that for this price we have specific tools and a GOOD potential guy in R Will; but I don't think Kanter is the tool we need at . Hope he will prove I am wrong but to win a champ with a  defensor as hims is hard to me.
I would prefer a big beef to put in the paint against other strong bigs. Robinson is a good trade target, but we could have others (or Trade Exeption) like JV, Poeltl, Plumlee... Ibaka would b perfect but we of course can't pay him.

Theis + Williams + Kanter is probably as good as we’re gonna get.

I like our centers at the moment.  R. Holmes would be nice if we can't keep Kanter...

If Kanter leaves I'd love to give Baynes another go back here, but he might think himself worthy of more minutes than he'd get here.

Alex Len could be another guy to look at. Legit 7 footer who has developed a 3pt shot. I'd also think long and hard about Mason Plumlee, if he wanted to leave Denver.

All that being said, Kanter probably stays. Feel like it'll be too risky an off-season with the pandemic to try and ply your trade elsewhere.

If Rob and Daniel can stay healthy, I'm happy with our center position.

I would only be interested in trading for a starting C if he can defend the pick n roll. Neither Bryant nor Robinson are good pick n roll defenders. The only realistic(?) exception I'd consider is Wiseman. I believe he'd be a bad fit for our system, but he's a tantalizing prospect.

To put this idea in perspective, I went through all 30 teams and blindly used the depth chart listed on ESPN and just took the top 3 centers listed.

Boston ranks 26th out of 30 teams, spending $11.7m on their 3 centers, while the average NBA team spends $27.7m for 3 centers.

 CLE     58,359,422
 PHI     55,854,819
 TOR     50,455,535
 MIN     43,497,710
 POR     43,333,218
 DEN     40,614,691
 DAL     38,785,000
 ORL     36,697,600
 MEM     34,708,053
 LAL     33,657,772
 CHO     33,148,645
 NOP     32,269,480
 UTA     31,737,787
 ATL     31,189,856
 OKC     29,899,885
 NYK     26,359,712
 WAS     25,450,079
 IND     24,346,315
 MIL     23,860,024
 PHO     19,783,200
 GS     19,383,300
 MIA     15,588,883
 DET     14,947,396
 CHI     14,256,210
 LAC     12,771,285
 BOS     11,704,520
SAC     11,505,800, excludes Bagley at $8.6m because he's out injured
 HOU     9,856,012
BRK     4,338,228, excludes DJ at $9.9m because he's out injured
SAS     4,000,572, excludes Aldridge at $26m because he's out injured

*If a two-way players like Bol Bol made the top 3 depth chart, I put in 0 salary because nothing was listed on bball-ref salary page for them.

But when you add in the injured players who weren't listed on ESPN's depth chart, the Celtics are actually 29 out of 30, behind only Houston who really doesn't play any Centers (their depth chart was Tucker, Jeff Green, Carroll lol).

20 teams actually have 1 player at Center who gets paid more than Boston's top 3 centers combined!  9 teams have 2 or more centers that make more individually than Boston's trio combined. Theis+Kanter+Time Lord make $11.7m, while some of the role playing centers who make that or more include Brook Lopez ($12m), Derrick Favors ($17.5m), Kelly Olynyk ($11.7m), Cody Zeller ($14.5m), Dewayne Dedmon ($13.3m), Bobby Portis ($15m), Mason Plumlee ($14m), Larry Nance Jr. ($12.7m), Bismack Miyombo ($17m), etc.

And you want Boston to get even cheaper?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class
