Lakers switched to black uniforms and AD wore special gold shoes today, because they thought they were winning the banner tonight

https://twitter.com/i/events/1314735895854030848?s=21

I hope Miami keeps beating them the next two games so the Lakers will have nothing to celebrate and nothing to honor about. Their fanbase do not deserve it IMO.

Bam and Olynyk...keep doing yo things on Davis. Olynyk should have his eyes focused on Davis's arm the same way he did to Kevin Love. Davis's dad wants to talk about loyalty and how the Celtics aren't loyal...his boy ain't loyal himself, leaving the Peliacns and all. As harsh as this may sound, that's my current mindset of that team right now.

It's the lamest narrative out there and clearly was just AD's dad trying to get his son to LA instead of BOS. Yes, I appreciate IT playing hurt; yes, I appreciate him playing despite his sister's passing; but we traded him to the only team in the East with a better chance at the Finals than us. People want to get on Ainge for no paying IT big money, but that would have been the worst idea of all-time. IT had a great 2 1/2 years w/ us, but we didn't draft him; we didn't even sign him in FA. He wasn't even a starter when we traded for him. I don't know - Ainge is a cold-blooded dude, but I think the hate he gets for this is unwarranted.

Anyway, Go Heat!

Funny how a couple months ago I got some criticism in the 2020 Historic Draft (1999-2020) for selecting Jimmy Butler at #41, while Paul George was selected at #17 and didn't receive any criticism. (a bit salty I know)

Not too sure about this pick...I think it might be a slight reach unless you take his 19-20 season at face value

I think Jimmy Butler is not that far behind Paul George.  Not that far of a reach here, I had Paul George as a second round player and Butler as a third round player.
Quote
I think there's a significant difference between the two - I think George is flat out a better player on both ends of the court.

Not quite as harsh as my feelings about the Lakers.  In a sport where 2 players can carry a team to multiple  championships, Lakers are in a league that provides a pretty fool-proof formula for rebuild for one team.  The Lakers.  Players see the weather, social life, status as their ticket to fame and fortune unlike any other team in the league.  And of course the NBA provides players the ability to manipulate their own destination. So Lakers tank, gain decent assets, create cap room - sit back and wait.  2 years ago they were nothing. 2 top five players later - both making it clear to the league that LAL is where they were heading - and poof, they leap over every team in the league, many of whom are in an annual struggle for modest improvement.  Teams who’ve never sniffed an NBA finals or title.

The only stat I care about (most championships) will be gone in a couple days.  Sucks.

Agreed. Still a huge uphill battle but Jimmy Butler is keeping the hope alive.

And in all seriousness, if they didn’t eliminate us, I know most on here would be rooting for the Heat. Like imagine a scenario where we somehow lost to the Raps in G7, then the Heat beat the Raps in 5, and were now dueling the Lakers.

Plus, it’s not like we haven’t cheered for Crowder and KO before.

I'm really impressed with the fight Miami is putting up with a sill injured Adebayo and no Dragic. I think their chances of pulling this off though depends on Dragic being able to come back healthy enough to make a difference.

In short stints where Nunn was effective, the Heat were pulling away with double digit leads. They need that second shot creator to take the pressure off Butler when the defensive intensity goes up. Adebayo and Dragic were both doing that against the Celtics but Adebayo is hurt and also no match for AD. Dragic is key.

I don't expect the Heat to say anything until right before game 6. He warmed up before game 5 to see if he could go. I'm sure they will try to see if he's able on Sunday.

I don't think it's particularly harsh, given what we've seen with Butler. On the Heat he's unquestionably the man, with guys who are for the most part lesser, but almost custom made to suit Butler. The only guy who could question Butler's alpha status is Bam, and he's still young.

However, when we've seen Butler with guys of equal or superior talent, he's caused issues in the locker-room with them and hasn't stayed long. Was in Minny for a brief period and was a jerk there, and didn't stay in Philly for very long. I think that is more telling for the All-Time draft as Butler would be the 4th/5th starter, and as a non-shooting ball-dominant playmaker that's not a role that suits him.

On Reddit clip from last game shows Anthony Davis viciously hitting Jae Crowder in the face. Worthy of suspension IMO.

Can someone post it?

LOOL I dare Spoelstra to submit that to the NBA and I double-dog dare the NBA to fine, punish or suspend AD.

I'm pretty sure the NBA has already set it won't retroactively punish AD, which is ridiculous. If Draymond Green got suspended for what he did a couple of years ago so should AD

It's the Lakers, they won't do it and jeopardize their game and image. If that was Smart doing that, 3 game suspension and a fine.
