I thought till now that Hakeem would be a perfect coach for a center.. after watching episodes 3 4 of last dance I am really impressed by the hours Rodman spent to learn his opponents their shots everything.. he would be a great coach for centers too if he wanted.. unbelievable approach of the defensive game and how to grab rebounds.. crazy but dedicated.. guys like the 2 williams should certainly learn something from Dennis..

Rodman is nuts.  He would make an awful coach for that reason.

having a talent and being able to teach the game that features your talent are two very different things. coaching is not about your talent level (lots of major sports coaches were marginal players at best) but your ability to motivate others, know the game intellectually, and  be able to translate the game in a way that others want to learn and will follow.

i may be wrong, but rodman doesnt seem to square very well with that last part.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Rodman is definitely not coach material.  I'm also not sure what made him so special can be taught.

I'don't know if he could learn Tatum to rebound or not, but he could sure show him the way around a strip club.

He also went missing in the middle of the season
I was too impressed by the way he studied and found the best way to position himself but the guy is not suitable for a mentor

i think you nailed it with this post.   Mindset, personality, conditioning, he chose to play a very specfic role , to play hard nose energy ball and dirty work ever minute on the floor.  He figured out a role for himself that allowed his strenghts to shine,  when he had poor over all basketball skill sets .  A few try and copy him , but none have the ability to last the long run playing with physical abandon like him.

He also has trouble communicating a little bit. I think that's played a role in his troubles.

Smart has some of Rodman in him; willing to throw his body into everything, 100% non-stop.

I think Rob Williams should study Rodman tape.  He has the same physical tools.  It could elevate his defensive play and rebounding.

The biggest thing a coach has to be able to do is communicate. I question Rodman's ability to communicate.

Technically speaking, it's quite likely that Rodman is actually insane.
