The OTHER SFs I saw were either more "Specific Role" players at this point in their careers.

Some had ******* Team awards, but seemed to only fit a specific role - thus limiting my team somewhat.

Gordon Hayward is a fine facilitator, deep threat, scorer, decent rebounder and leader for this team. And his defense is decent, especially in 2016-17.

Dude was just too solid all-around for me to let go of at this point.

His 16-17 stats - especially in the playoffs - helps this team.

In the past I reached for certain "Role" players as my starters and it bit me in the end.
Looking THIS game to better diversify my players.
To be fair those "role" players were selected in an All-Time draft, the draft pool in this draft is much less deep. I think a certain lad you selected to be one of your guards the last draft would be an excellent mid round pick in this format ;)

But in selecting "that" guard I'd further limit my SF spot to lesser talent.

I'll be able to fill out my SG spot with some special talent and my bench with specific role players as well.

Manu is who I wanted greenfaith to take to keep his international trend going.  I think he would have been a fantastic compliment as well (especially given he and Parker worked so well in San An for so long).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Lee can actually use the guy I was referring to :o, his team would immediately make a huge leap in my evaluations if he makes that selection.

All good things come to an end, though.

Those Spurs teams were special.

But in THIS game Tony's going to love his back court mate(s).

And right NOW he has ball movement throughout his lineup....ball will not stick ANYWHERE in this lineup...no black holes - especially if someone gets doubled.

Smart lineup...unselfish...BUT - if someone gets hot then THIS team will feed it to them and not force it.

Embiid is an EXCEPTIONAL passer as well - especially out of double teams.

Bosh and Jokic I think are the best selections of the round (so far).  Bosh was so good in Toronto, sacrificed a lot for the sake of winning in Miami, and then saw his stats all go back up when James left.  Shame he got sick as I think he could have gone down as a top 10 PF all time (and no I'm not joking because once you get past the usual suspects, there are any number of players that could fit in that 8-10 range - as an example in 2016 when ESPN ranked PF's they had Pau at 9 and I think Bosh could have eclipsed Pau's career).

I really wonder how his career would have gone had he never developed the blood clots. Wonder if he stays in Miami - is he still in the league today?

I've seen several youtube clips of Embiid's exceptional passing skills for a Big man - but don't want to post them here because it will give away players not drafted.

But feel free to check them out yourself.

Double Joel? He's kicking it out to Dirk or Hayward or Tony.

And that's not even counting my SG I'm looking at and my bench.

Jokic is going to have a hard time defensively in this league.  Just imaging him trying to defend Shaq.  Yikes!

That's surprising, my evaluation of Embiid's passing is that his vision and decision making were problematic at times and is subpar overall.

I am the opposite on Bosh.

I am unsure of his value in this Historical League. I loved him during his playing career but I believe the matchups are difficult for him in this fantasy league.

I felt he was a better center than a power forward (not just in Miami but in Toronto and for Team USA) but I believe he'd have a lot of trouble matching up with some of beefier centers in this league than the ones he had to face during his own playing career. Which forces Bosh to play PF where he was less successful at.

I go back to those Orlando matchups where Bosh destroyed Dwight Howard but could be contained by their PF/SF because their PF/SF had enough quickness to deny Bosh's face up game. I think that is Bosh's game in a nutshell. Get him against centers where he can use his quickness (on both ends of the floor) and he can succeed. Put him against smaller quicker defenders who can defend in space and Bosh struggles.

As a PF, I don't think his game was as strong. Bosh lacked the low post game to take advantage of his superior height / length. This meant he relied on his face up game but he needed a lot of space and time to exploit that face up game because his skill-level wasn't high enough (Dirk-like high I mean).

Toronto were happy to give Bosh that time and space because they had no other scorers and their #1 pick big man was a 3 point shooter who couldn't create his own offense but gave Bosh lots of room to put up numbers.

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

Offensively, Joker and C-Webb would be a top League Pass team to watch, but I don't know how they would fare well defensively. Neither are well known rim protectors for one.

Would you like me to post about a 4 min youtube clip that perfectly displays Embiid's passing ability?

It will give away a few players not drafted yet.

The bolded is simply not true.

This is why I tried to stay away from certain players with this draft - because of some biases Bloggers here have with some of our real life competition.

Joel Embiid - real life rivalries aside - is simply one of the best Bigs in this draft and will fit well with this team.
