I think we need a definition of “floor”, because I have a hard time seeing anybody’s floor after three years as a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Barring catastrophic career ending injury and plateauing of their current skill set or factoring in very minimal/moderate growth from now.?

I guess that’s my issue. Even minor setbacks can cause guys to plateau or regress. Everybody is acting as if he is going to continue to progress, but I would not say that is his floor.

My favorite example is Tyreke Evans. What was his floor after his rookie season?

To be fair Tyreke Evans was putting up quite some empty stats in his rookie year, Tatum has very impressive impact metrics. But yeah I'm operating on the assumption that he flatlines and doesn't improve nor regress for floor, which to me is a budget version of Pierce (Perennial All-Star instead of All-NBA).

Floor: a poor man's Paul Pierce with worse offence but better defence. Perennial All-Star.

Ceiling: offensive box profile of Karl Malone with fringe All-League defence. MVP-worthy peak, but falls short of the All-Time great peaks by few tiers.

Likely scenario: Paul Pierce with better defence but a less polished offensive game. All-NBA mainstay.
I dunno about that. PP was a very good 1 on 1 defender when engaged.
Emphasis on 1 on 1 defence. Team defence is much more important than man defence when it comes to a player's defensive impact, and Tatum's team defence is borderline All-League worthy for a wing player. Pierce never really came close to being that sort of team defender (he was a strong wing defender overall, but he was never anything more than a replaceable cog on a great defensive team).

I do rate Pierce's offence significantly higher than Tatum's as of right now though.

Ceiling: better Michael Jordan
Floor: worse James Young (actually, there's a guy I play with down at the local YMCA that reminds me a bit of Tatum. He's 52 but scores a few points each game. I think he's my floor comp)

But seriously, my ceiling is like 95% of Kevin Durant. My floor is like 90% of Paul George.

And… He’s still just 24 and continues to get better each year. Best Celtics player since Larry Bird. It’s pretty incredible.

His floor is where he is now:  a consensus top-15 player who will be in All-NBA discussions every season.

His ceiling?  A top-three Celtic of all-time with multiple rings.

Best player drafted,  I may agree? KG still stands in his way IMHO.

Tatum has arguably had a better season as a Celtic than any season KG had as a Celtic from an individual standpoint anyway (clearly not from a team success standpoint).

To me his ceiling is a hybrid version of Durant and Paul Pierce. Elite two-way player who can score with ease too (28+ PPG)

Ceiling....Durant on offense and Leonard on defense.
Floor....Pierce on offense and George on defense.

Tatum is already a superior player to Pierce.  His floor at this point is basically just some nominal improvement over where he is currently.  His ceiling is as a top 3 player and perennial MVP candidate.
