With the majority of the regular season over, what do you think Jayson Tatums floor and ceiling will be when comparing him to current or former NBA players? I feel he’s already as good as a Paul George and better than Gordon Hayward was when he was  in Utah. I think his ceiling may be Tracy McGrady in his prime.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

As much as I love Jayson he is nowhere near as good as Gordon Hayward is, YET - as far as distribution.

I need to see him be able to pass out of double teams...let the offense flow THROUGH him more...I'm seeing it in flashes but he MUST take the next step..and I believe he WILL.

Once he does this then his ceiling will be

This IS in him...just gotta keep working and NEVER settle.

His "floor" will probably settle around All-Star level.

I also believe Jaylen is not too far behind him.

Hayward is more of a do it all robin to Tatum's aggressive Batman!

I prefer Nightwing. Robin doesn't do GH much justice.

Floor:  Jamal Mashburn.  A guy who looked like an absolute stud after his first three years, but ended up never reaching those heights again due to a combination of factors.

Ceiling: Paul Pierce.  27 points per game as the face of a franchise.  Maybe a less selfish Carmelo, in terms of the offensive repertoire.

Fair enough! Plus Hayward is now on fire so It's two batmen!

I think his ceiling is higher than Pierce.  I said it in another thread a couple of weeks ago but the Celtics haven't had someone with this much potential since Bird.

He hasn't passed Paul's (or GH's) playmaking ability, yet.

I think Tatum has passed GH in scoring, rebounding and defensive ability. Seems to be an overall better player.

That passing is key, though - especially out of double teams.

Tatum just isn't there yet - but he will be one day.

Lol.  He’s not that close to Prime Pierce right now.  He currently lacks the vision, the playmaking, and the ability to get to the line.

He needs to learn to play with others.

The team was injured and he broke out in February. People were calling him a fringe top 10 player which was silly.

But with Kemba back, Hayward back, he plays less agressively, more passively and is not at the top of any heiarchy. And now he's back to what he was. Inconsistent. Inefficient. He can't play at his best yet with Brad's non-hierarchal offense.
