I'd imagine Durant will have a big say in the Nets' new coach choice. Back in late 2018, he spoke very highly of then-Kings coach Dave Joerger who is currently unemployed.

Irving was linked to Jason Kidd and the Lakers during free agency this past off-season. Don't know if he might be a viable option for the Nets (again) next year.

very strange timing.  How often do playoff teams fire their coaches a month before the playoffs?

That sounds most likely but why do it now?  KD and Kyrie aren't playing.  Doubt that they're interacting with Atkinson much.  No reason not to wait until the end of the season to fire Atkinson unless there is more to it.
