Robert Williams injury

I was looking at the injury report and decided to Google bone edema.  This looks like it could be pretty serious for him. 

Bone marrow edema can be a confusing condition, affecting some people differently than others. While it tends to resolve within four to 12 months following an injury, up to 15 percent of cases will persist for two years or more, even among those in otherwise perfect health.

When NBA big men start to get injuries to their legs and back it seems like most never really recover.   Williams has been dealing with leg injuries since he was drafted and now with this bone injury I don’t know if he’ll recover or at least be the player he was drafted to be.  What do you all think?

It’s definitely something to consider especially as the trade deadline approaches.
Combine timelord and Poirier and you can match salaries on bielica or Bertans trade

I read that when it happens in younger patients it could be being made worse due to irregularities farther down the leg with problems in the knee or ankle compounding the problem. I hope that's not a problem for Timelord as something like that could be long term very bad for his career.

I lot of Internet doctors here. Let's wait  to see how he is healing.  The latest reports were all positive; no pain, etc.  Personally, I think the Celtics are just showing an abundance of caution, because they place a lot of value on Williams' future with the club.

Embiid missed a year plus.

Simmons missed a year.

They both are doing fine now, healthwise.

"Robert Williams continues to make progress from a left hip bone edema that has kept him sidelined since Dec. 9 as he had a good scan on his hip last Friday and will ramp up his recovery activities."

Brad Stevens on Robert Williams: “We’ve gotten even more good news, we’re going to really start pushing him after the All-Star break. He’s going to start practicing with us after the All-Star break. Hopefully he’ll come back soon thereafter."

Yeah, I’m excited to bring Timelord back. Efficient because he doesn’t really need shots, good rebounding, good passing and improving defence. If he can start to use his tools properly he could be a really solid bench big.

He definitely gives the Celtics a different look at Center and I like him playing next to Grant Williams off the bench.

He is only going to begin practicing after the break. Who knows how long that means until he is cleared to play. Then we as fans really shouldn't assume he will return to exactly the place in his game performance he was at before the injury.

Hopefully, he is back, really back, meaning being back to where he was before the injury in performance, and healthy by April. Just get back to that level and be incorporated back into the rotation before the playoffs.

That's what I want

I think the above is best-case scenario.  And even before the injury his play was inconsistent.  I honestly don’t expect him to be in the playoff rotation.  It’s also why I think he could be the prime asset moved in the next 24 hours (if any move is made).

I just want Timelord to return sometime in March and to be a rotational 10-15 minute big for us. That's all we need, and hope everyone else is healthy as possible.
