Simmons gets a lot of criticism but I think he is very good.
Can get to the rim ANY time he wants.

I think Simmons is terrific.

So disappointing not to have Kemba tonight.

It's not  so much that Simmons isnt very good its that he and Embiid arent an ideal fit. Both on the court together means neither is as good as they could be. Ideal Simmons team is him with four guys who can spread the floor and one other elite ball handler to allow for a two man game with him rollng to the rim.

Our guys need to understand, you HAVE to slow down Simmons before he gets to the lane.  That is literally his only move.  Stay between him and the basket, play positional def...stop his penetration.  He is like Giannis Light, but much worse as a player.  Just stop the penetration.

Yup.  I'm really peeved at how we defended him in the 2nd quarter.  Semi was doing a great job on him.

And even if he misses, he just rebounds and dunks it back. And if he doesn't go all the way into the lane he just passes to a cutting teammate for an easy lay-up.

If we didn't get some non-shooting foul calls at the end of the quarter to get us FTs, we might be looking at an even closer score. We need Hayward to show up in the 2nd half.

Unfortunately the guy that is really good at doing that plays on his team now.

Yeah Al was good on def at times against him.  We still have guys that can slow him down.  But it has to be a dedicated effort to stop that.  Move the feet on def, slide to cut off his angle.  We need to be intense about it though.  If you half-butt it, he will kill us.

Celtics 43% Bench - 34 minutes 18 points
Philly 40% bench - 38 minutes 11 points

Wanamaker 9 points in 11:53 minutes gets bench efficiency award

Gotta assume Embiid will have a big second half so we need to shut down the fast break points and offensive rebounding. And Smart and Hayward need to make some shots.

Overall good half of basketball given the quality of opponent and lacking Kemba and Enes.

Terrible 2nd quarter.

The energy dropped and Hayward is missing his shots....

Hayward having a tough shooting night. He’s been taking good shots just bricking them. Let’s hope he doesn’t go into his shell and just stand in the corner in the 2nd half
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I agree with this 100%.  For Simmons to be effective you have to take Embiid out of the post (which is his dominant location on the floor).   I can't understand why they just don't give Embiid the ball more in the post.  We will double over and over again, but that is a losing battle for us if Embiid plays well and unselfish.  If Simmons could make ANY jumpshot, I mean ANY, the two man game with Embiid should destroy other teams.  But it doesn't always do that.

Important 2nd half for him.   He's been on fire the last few games -- I think it will be great for his confidence if he can turn the bad shooting 1st half into a solid 2nd half.   Do it Gordon!

That T on Wanamaker looks super weak. Embiid stares down players more than that on literally every score
I'm bitter.

Absolutely, right now you can game plan Simmons and minimize him in the playoffs if you have the right scheme.

That is why I don't understand the falling over love that he gets....he is one dimensional.  Yeah that one dimension is spectacular, but if he could hit the 3 ball and an 18 footer, he would probably be an mvp candidate.  I think people judge him more (ie overestimate him) based on his potential from on all the dunks and athletic plays.
