Honestly, the best kind-of player the Sixers could trade Embiid for is a guy like Kemba. He is great on or off ball (allows Simmons to be himself), can score from anywhere (won't clog up the floor), and is an excellent locker room guy (not that Embiid isn't, but, come on).

I understand this kind of trade would never happen - and I don't even think I want it to, even given the apparent value disparity - but if I were Philly, I would look to move Embiid and not Simmons.

Man if you could have a Kemba or Lillard type with a Richardson/Harris/Simmons/Horford 2-5 that would be pretty good. Horford could space, Simmons can become an elite roll guy and handle in transition. Defense would still be really good given how good Simmons/Horford/Richardson are.

If they trade Embiid, I think they'd love to trade him for either Beal or Lillard.

To me Simmons should be Giannis but with better vision. I personally think Simmons doesn't love basketball or isn't a driven person. If I was a Philly fan I'd be real disappointed in Simmons not growing his game with all that talent.
Maybe that is it, or maybe it is he just hasn't been put in a position to succeed given he just doesn't fit well with Embiid.
Or maybe it's that Giannis is infinitely more talented than Simmons (that's it)?

I think if you suggested trading Embiid a season ago you'd be called crazy but Embiid is embarrassing.

I know he is just coming back from a hand injury but he was invisible in this game vs the Celtics and it's obvious he is overweight. There's no surprise Shaq & Barkley called him out because they see the talent wasted on his laziness. People forget that Colangelo was secretly complaining about how lazy Embiid was and that his second major injury was because of his weight and laziness.

The problem with both Simmons and Embidd is that they are both built for the regular season and can be taken out of their games in the playoffs.

I said it before Embiid and Richardson for Beal and Bryant makes a ton of sense to me.

I don't know about talent but Giannis is definitely infinitely more dedicated and focused being the best than Simmons

I agree he doesn't fit well with Embiid, but in no way has he not been put in a position to succeed.  ChillyWilly is right: Simmons just hasn't grown as a player.

i think time has proven this out ^ , he is a guy that needs the ball alot .....more Lebron without a jump shot .   He needs quiet team oriented knock down shooters .  Catch and shoot Ray Allen types ..Simmons is a take aim jump shooter ...too long to line up a jumper from 20 ft.

He hasn't been put in a position to succeed.  He needs the same space on the floor as Embiid to be truly successful and the team has given all that space to Embiid.  He needs to be playing PF (or at least share the floor with an actual PG).  He needs to be surrounded by athletic shooters.  None of those things have happened because of Embiid.  Simmons is a significantly more productive player when Embiid is out extended time.  This has been shown time and time again.  They do not fit well together, the team has chosen Embiid, and they haven't put Simmons in the best position to succeed at all.

And Simmons has absolutely grown as a player.  He hasn't developed a 3 point shot, that doesn't mean he hasn't gotten better.  He is better almost across the board, just as he was from year 1 to year 2.  He is shooting better from virtually every spot on the floor.  He is passing better, generating steals better, defending in general better, etc.  His advanced metrics like WS, VORP, BPM, etc. are all better.

What I notice about Embiid is that he doesn't have spots on the court he works from. It feels like they try to make him Anthony Davis.

I'd rather get him touches from the same spots, doing the same moves each time. I think his efficiency would sky-rocket and his ability to carry a team offensively would go up.

I’d take Embiid. As a C’s fan naturally I hate him but...ask yourself if we are playing the Sixers what player do you not want in their Lineup.
If a coach can get Embiid to stay below the foul line he’d be in Giannis class .
Big Ben has too many offensive flaws

I think you have to keep Embiid, as he's such a unicorn. But it doesn't seem like he "gets it" about the game. Is he going to be an elite all-timer or just Dwight Howard 2.0?

Simmons' lack of shooting ability hasn't changed and it begs the question of his value as a max player

Embiid last night refused to speak to the media.

This guy can sure dish it, but can't take it.  ::)
