Langford looks like a pro on offence, the moves he has are really advanced for a guard/wing combo.
agreed.  the few on the site that complain he's a bust already have no idea what this kid can do

Its just 3-5 vocal idiots who think they can see the future.

Langford looks as smooth as butter.  ;D

Wonder if they’ll work him in more by the all star break or after... In his limited minutes his defense and rebounding have been solid, too.
So why wasn’t he playing in the bad stretch where we were shorthanded ?
so... you're point is that because he wasn't playing that makes him a bust?

I wonder this as well but I bet Brad has his reasons. The kid looks good when he plays but it's only been in tiny minutes.

Celtics win games one of two ways - either red-hot streaky shooting or they just out-work, out-hustle the other team. So, as we have seen many times, if we are not shooting well, we have no inside game to turn to and we have a good defense, but it requires lots of energy to be effective. no shooting and little effort = Loss. You get one or the other, I'd say 60% chance to win. Of course, those nights when we are playing with high energy and intense effort and shooting it well, we become a top 3 team in the league.

Tonite vs Lakers, we are playing with energy and grit and shooting a decent %, though not off the charts. Lakers out-shooting us, but effort is getting it done so far - Can we maintain this energy ?
Are you watching this game? Boston's inside game has been excellent. Kanter 18/8

Yep, I'm watching. Are you ? typical comment - Kanter has scored off offensive rebounds and in-close slip passes for little layups. That is not a post player making an offensive move and shot over a defender.
You can't be watching this game. Celtics are killing the Lakers on the boards, have more offensive rebounds and lead the Lakers in points in the paint. Boston's inside game has been outstanding.
His definition of an inside game are Duncan-esque post ups that have bigs pounding the ball under the basket every possession.
Which would be an ok strategy ... if we had a talent like Duncan
I'd rather have Garnett scaling up with the Jays, Kemba and Hayward with excellent outside shooting and GOAT level big man passing
I'd settle for any all-time 7 footer to be honest.

My definition of an inside game is an actual inside game. I am all for offensive rebounding, great  job Kanter. My original point, which was missed due to a lack of understanding of basketball, was that if the perimeter shots are clanging, as we sometimes see on those nightmare shooting games from Tatum and Brown, the Celtics do not have another offensive option.

Obviously, in today's game, we are not going to see a player like Kevin McHale receive an entry pass and make a two-step move to score. But there are still elements of inside post scoring within the offense that some teams' still enjoy that gives them an additional offensive option.
The only one not understanding basketball is you.

An inside game is more than an ability to throw the ball to a big guy that makes a down low move. What you call inside basketball is only a big with low posts moves.

But an inside game means having the ability to defend inside. It means having the ability to drive and score inside. It means having the ability to rebound inside. It means having the ability at low posts moves. It means having the ability to put back offensive rebounds.

The Celtics inside game was tremendous tonight.

Thanks Nick - you just made my point for me.

Actually not. Read it clearly.

Every player that played tonight finished with a plus on the +/- ,  i wonder how often that happens, even in a blow out?

On D the Celts did everything possible to prevent the PNR

especially PNR alleys.  In the sacrifice of daring the Lakers to shoot open 3s

Very smart move as the Lakers are not a very strong 3 point shooting team.  Usually CBS wants the Celts to be GOOD at everything and stop everything.  You just can't do that in this league

Pick your poison and stick with it.  For example vs the Bucks, the D should be strong against the 3 pt line since most Buck players can't drive to the basket.  Only dare Giannis to shoot. And they did this in the 4th quarter but it was too late

On offense , the Lakers tried to defend the Celts out to the 3 pt line.  Love how the team constantly hit that free man by the FT line. Who then could decide to make a short jumper, pass it to the open corner man or hit the roller to the basket

what a breath of fresh air.  VS shoot the 3 point everything.

seriously

Also I have never seen this team grab this many offensive boards before.  And steal the ball

Much riskier type of ball than I'm used to watching.

CBS hates giving up fast break points

I think the Lakers are a pretty decent fast break team so the Celts definitely took a chance and it paid off

The Celtics were crazy aggressive tonight. They played with reckless abandon. When Kemba got that offensive rebound tip in early in the game I knew they were playing all out!

excellent point

you rarely see the little guy try that

the funny thing is, even though the Celts get burnt, Lakers are too old to be running on fastbreaks too frequently

after a few mins,  they are probably waving for wheelchairs..... too old

Demoralizing start to the game - I thought, "Here we go."

Never saw that performance coming. Celts basically fought their way out of a bad start/bad shooting with pure grit and hustle. You wonder if this team senses how hard they have to play to be effective and subconciously hold back against lesser teams to avoid the fate of teams like Coach Thibs' Bulls teams who were so beat up by playoff time.

I just saw the replay. Why the hell was that a tech foul.

I find it very, very hard to enjoy LeBron in any capacity when they ref the game around him like that.
