Joel Embiid said he could miss Thursday's showdown with the Boston Celtics after dislocating his left ring finger in the first quarter of Monday night's 120-113 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Wells Fargo Center.

"That's a possibility," Embiid said after finishing with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in 32 minutes. "I want to play. It's a big game. Last time we played them, we had great success, but at the end of the day, whatever they want me to do. Obviously, I'll try to fight it, but they care about me, so whatever they want to do. ... We'll see."

The finger became an issue early in the game, when he began flexing his left hand midway through the first quarter. Eventually, he went back to the locker room to get it checked out. Embiid said that at that point, he felt his finger "snapping, and I thought I fractured it."

After he received X-rays and was cleared, he returned to the game. Then, after coming in and again clearly being in discomfort, he went to guard Thunder center Steven Adams in the post and quickly turned away, signaling for a timeout. His ring finger was pointing in a direction it was not supposed to be.

"I came back in, and then it just happened," Embiid said. "It was unfortunate."

After again going to the locker room, Embiid returned at the start of the second quarter with his middle and ring fingers taped together and checked back into the game. That sight was a relief to the Sixers, who saw Embiid's finger and initially were concerned it could be a serious injury.

If he doesn’t play, no way should the C’s lose. We’re more talented in pretty much every position and we’ll have the best player on the court on our side (Kemba)

Well, we just lost to a Wizards team without Beal. :P Their best player was Ish Smith for crying out loud!

Be real with me: did you expect that to happen coming into the game?

Of course not.

I also expected us to demolish the Hawks (dead last in the NBA) in the Garden and we barely managed to beat them. To a lesser extent, the same goes for the Bulls game in Chicago.

We really miss Kemba! Hopefully, he'll be ready to play against the Sixers.

Let's hope he recovers. I want us to play them at full strength to gauge whether we've improved against them.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Well only if we have Kemba. Otherwise kind of pointless to see how we do without our best player (who we clearly are mediocre without)

Given how tired we looked last night I'm not optimistic about a road B2B against 76ers no matter if Embiid plays or not.

We just lost to a GLeague team so anything is on the table for us..

We could lose the next 3 maybe four games tbh depending on when Kemba gets himself healthy and streaking again.

I’m just going to assume that by Thursday half the team has the flu anyways at this point.

That's too bad, I was really looking forward to seeing how we can do against them with both teams at full strength. Hopefully both Kemba and Embiid manage to play.
