Russell, Glenn Robinson and Alec Burks        for       Jrue and NAW

What do people think about this?

As a Jrue Holiday fan I selfishly would like to see him on a better team.  He and Favors will have to go at some point I would think, while the Pelicans commit fully to youth.  Ingram and Ball or no longer totally green, and neither would be Russell.
The Warriors meanwhile I don't think need to try a 3 splash brother approach next year.  I think two splash brothers is enough splash.  Alongside them they need good leadership and defense.  Jrue is only 29 still.  Perfect for Warriors push for more titles (enabled by them getting a danged top 3 pick).  Klay can start at SF.

Curry, Jrue, NAW
Jrue, Klay, NAW
Klay, free agent
Draymond
WCS, Wiseman (they hope)

Of course, if the Warriors pick lends itself not to Wiseman, but to Anthony Edwards or Lamello Ball, then they could keep the pick and trade Russell for an SF or a big.  Or they could trade the pick as well.

What are some other ideas for the Warriors and Russell, or the Pelican vets?

Pelicans roster:
Ball
Russell, Reddick
Ingram, Moore
Zion
Hayes

draft pick
trade of Favors

Jrue would fit a lot better than Russell going forward. I like it for the Dubs.  He’d be fantastic next to Curry.  His 3PT% isn’t stellar, but he’d get better looks.

I don't like that trade for either team.  I don't think Jrue is what the Warriors need and don't know why the Pelicans would want Russell.  The value seems fine overall, I just don't see why either team does it.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Jrue is a much better player than Russell. Good upgrade. To get NAW on top of that (who would be great in GSW's offense) is awesome for Golden State.

D-Russell is a fake star. Even trading him for a low level star like Jrue is a huge improvement for GSW over what they have. I'd do this deal in a heartbeat if I were GSW although I would prefer another SF/PF or C instead of another guard if I were trading D-Russell.

Russell got way too much credit for his role in the Nets success last season. Russell is more of a high usage role player than a star. More in line with the likes of Terry Rozier in terms of impact. One would think Russell would fit in better next to stars due to his superior shooting and playmaking but given how ball dominant he is I am not sure he fits better alongside top talent any better than Rozier can (who doesn't dominate the ball anywhere near as much or take as many shot attempts as Russell does).

Anyways, not a fan of D-Russell. He has skills but he can't seem to put it together. More of an individual talent than a team player.

I don’t understand the love of neutral fans that Holiday gets. It was the same way for Durant until he became the villain .

I also don’t understand the love affair that pelicans ownership have with Jrue.
They refuse to trade him even though so many teams and fans target him for a trade.
Danny would have sent him to the highest bidder long time ago lol 😂
Russel has a lot more upside than holiday . Warriors should only trade him for an elite wing like Jaylen or Middleton neither of which will happen this season but maybe Middleton will be available if Giannis leaves.

I just looked up Jrue's stats and dang, hard to believe he is currently playing his 11th season in the league. For some reason, I always thought he was younger with like 7 or 8 years in the league.

Good player, good character, hard worker, good teammate, passes and scores, elite defense.

Why wouldn’t fans admire a guy like that?

I understand that part but winning basketball games at the highest level takes more than this.
Holidays Passing and defense is a little overrated

I like the trade a whole lot more for the Dubs than the Pels but as others have said, I don't understand the logic behind the trade, especially for the Pelicans. Just seems more of a deck shuffling than an actual trade to address needs.

I think it moves the needle for GSW.

I’m less sure for the Pels, but they’d be getting an all-star PG who is the same age as Lonzo Ball.

Yep.  For Pels it's about getting younger, in line with their other hopefuls, and adding an all star at the same time...one who the Pels may feel can add to his game as he matures...adds more defense...adds more playmaking.

The Pels are already one of the youngest teams in the league. Every team needs vets. DLo adds nothing to the Pels that Jrue can't give them but Jrue can provide stuff DLo won't be able to.

This trade addresses no need or weakness for the Pels and it loses them a really good, young asset, they aren't getting back in Robinson and Burks.

All it does is make them younger in the Jrue-DLo swap and I am not sure that is either necessary or a good thing.

A Jrue-DLo swap seems like a fair, but can't imagine New Orleans already quitting on NAW
