Some thoughts on Langford after watching a few of his highlight tapes on the Red Claws:
He's really good at scoring around the rim. He doesn't look to be elite in any one of the fields that you'd associate with really good slashers (eg. finishing, athleticism), but his combination of being pretty good in all of those fields make him hard to stop when he's at the rim. What I do worry about his slashing at the NBA level is that his handle looks a bit shaky at times (the ball doesn't seem to stick to his hands like the elite inside scoring guards of the league, eg. Harden), so he might not be able to blow by defenders that easily (ntm that he might get stripped quite a bit).
His shot looks okay, it still has a hitch but at least it's pretty smooth now. He still has a ton of work to do though, he's a bit behind rookie Jaylen (who transformed his shot during the summer and became a serviceable shooter) when it comes to long range shooting. What he's good at is shooting stepbacks and pullups off the dribble in the midrange, and he seems to have added a stepback three to his arsenal as well.
I was impressed with how smooth he was when he got his defender on his back, which is something that'll come in handy when he starts playing in the NBA (he'll definitely get some PnR looks since he's a guard/wing hybrid in Brad's system). His passing doesn't look great from what I've seen but he's pretty solid when he's willing to pass, he just doesn't pass often unless he's doubled or if there's a really obvious opening.
Overall a pretty promising prospect who can become a professional scorer if he works on the right things. Major hurdle for his ceiling is three point shooting and passing imo, two of the most additive and portable offensive skills out there (although on ball passing isn't as portable).
