Sixers will be fine come playoffs. Maybe they make a move at the deadline if one or more of there starters is done for the season with an injury

Maybe it's my bias against Simmons (I've always thought he was massively overrated coming out of college), but I don't see why Portland would trade Lillard for Simmons.  Lillard is a significantly better player.  Same for the Wizards and Beal.

The Sixers will only go as far as Embiid takes them.  If he hasn't addressed his conditioning issues, it seems very unlikely that they'll make it to the Finals, much less win a ring.  Should have traded Simmons a long time ago.  Their mismanagement ever since the "process" began is amusing.

I wonder if Portland's season continues to disappoint, could Philly land Damian Lillard for Ben Simmons.

Portland moves CJ McCollum over to PG. Fix one of their forward slots with Ben Simmons. Nurkic at center. Build a new look team around those three players.
That would be an interesting move for Portland, though I think based on ownership they'd move CJ before Lillard. Even moving CJ is unlikely based on their internal outlook. I think its slam dunk for Philly.

I still think they need to reexamine their front office process after they convinced themselves they had the best and deepest roster around Lillard ever at the start of this year. It just was clearly not true, and there was a reason all the projection systems were pegging them to disappoint.

They should have traded Simmons for Anthony Davis when they had the chance in Feb 2019 and had a Big Three of Embiid, Davis, and Butler.

They need to play Simmons at the 4 or 5 primarily, to do that they need better guard depth. Even if he's handling the ball and bringing the ball up, play him fully at the 4 and have two SGs. Build more line ups like that.

Beyond roster changes, they need to get more out of Harris, tactically enable him to get going.

Personally I am not surprised. In a league trending towards small ball, Philly is playing 4 bigs at once. They are a poor shooting three point team and they lack a go to scorer. It doesn’t help that it seems that Embiid and Simmons have plateaued as far as development. They’ve basically been the same players for two seasons now.

Simmons seems like the guy with no position right now. If the 76ers are hell bent on pairing Embiid/Horford, then I don’t see how Summons fits that lineup. They should look to see if they can package that guy for a scoring guard.

In all seriousness, if Philly had gone after Kemba instead of Horford, I think they would be absolutely cooking teams right now.

Yea Ben Simmons’ inability to shoot a jumper is the gift that keeps on giving. What’s even better is his arrogant unwillingness to admit that he needs to learn how to shoot. His “I’m an all star” act is hysterically absurd, I love watching him broadcast his stupidity every time he reiterates that sentiment.

PF - Giannis Antetokounmpo/Tommy Heinsohn

Call me a crazy, biased fan. But if you asked me right now who I'd take, Simmons or Jaylen Brown. I'd take Brown.

Hell, I might even take Ingram over Simmons. Simmons may have that "potential" but it's been 4 years now and he still can't shoot. He literally is a liability in crunch time for the Sixers when they are on offense and this is well documented by now.

This blog keeps telling me that Simmons is soon to be a "game changer" but I don't see it still.

One has to wonder what Big Al is seeing now that he is a part of the 76ers.....he is seeing first hand Simmons' development.

IMO the lack of "ANY" J - don't even have to be deep range - is what is keeping him from being a top 10-15 player easily.

how about Embiid for Tatum?
Celtics are getting the better player but Embiid might be done with the NBA in 2-3 years (foot injuries and conditioning).
Both teams solve their log jams and potentially become better.

I don't know, TBH - I'd have to have our medical staff look Embiid over thoroughly before I'd even consider such a trade..

Tatum and Brown look to dominate the NBA for the near future...I'd hate to break that up.

One thing every GM of the "competing" teams this season have to keep in mind is that the warriors are looking at a top 5 draft pick (top 2 with some ping pong luck).
Next year Curry and Thompson and Looney will come back healthy .. you add Russel; Draymond plus a top pick to that plus whoever they retain from this years team to fill up the bench and the warriors might dominate until 2025 and be unbeatable. It will be smart for some GMs (including Danny) to try and go all in this year as next year Warriors might be a 70 win team again.
