Danny's Legacy is on the Line.

This is a make or break year for this Celtics team.  They've erupted out of the gate 9-1, but if they don't finish this year with a championship the Hayward Celtics will likely end with him scuttling off into free agency 120 million dollars and zero rings richer... 

The question for you is:  If Danny Ainge pulls off a trade this season that brings the Celtics another banner does that cement him among the greatest gm's of all time?

I think Danny has not a heck of a job retooling this year. This team is a legitimate challenger for at least the EC title and I would not have thought that prior to the season.  I think he has already proven he is one of the top 10% of GMs n NBA history but I do not think is legacy would be damaged if he failed to win it all this year.

This is not a make or break year. No one expected them to win championship this season. Even now it would be tough without someone picked up in late season trade, or more improvement at our center position.

Danny has set this team up for a really good run for the next few years.

The GOAT GM? It's been 11 years since his last championship lol. If he wins consistently then yeah sure maybe you can make a point about it

I would say so. Especially considering he never landed a favored or transcendent player. We didn't have Tim Duncan or Steroid King James fall into our lap. And we don't get "lucky" with the lottery or the officiating the way the Lakers do.

He has built his teams with intelligence, guile, and patience.

What?  If we don’t win the championship that will make Hayward leave? Nonsense IMO.   If we finish the season poorly that’s one thing, but as long as we go deep in the playoffs I don’t see why he would want to leave.

I think that Danny's legacy is safe, regardless of what happens.  He'll never be Red, but he's been an excellent GM.
