I know Its super early in the season, and I know the rivalry never left but its nice to see when both are on top.

I dont want to get carried away but the east is wide open. Imagine that finals meet

It’s awful to see it.  Especially when LAL has the top 2 players.  I’m not complaining about this C’s team, I am loving this team right now. But it causes me great pain to see the Lakers as suddenly real contenders again. They deserve a very long drought as every team has. But they eventually get what they want, and banner 17 is now within their reach.  I don’t want them anywhere near it. I don’t care about the rivalry.

So true.

Celts will have an easier road to the Finals.

It could be Boston vs. LA, but not the Lakers, it will be the Clippers.

I'm not worried at the Fakers as long as KL is healthy there ain't going to be no Fakers in the Finals..

PG and Kawhi will be too good of a team to be relegated to second.. Heck I'm even liking Dallas chances better than the Fakers.

But if it comes to that and we do meet the Fakers in the Finals.. I will be giddy since its always been the ultimate rivalry in basketball... The fact that LeBron is playing for the Fakers is ultra sweet if we indeed can pull this one off.

League is finally taking notice of the Cs versatile wings...we are actually built like the Clippers tbh.. Lets see how this plays out.

Rivalry? LeBron is a steroid user and a fraud. He came up during an era when guys like Barry Bonds were abusing historical records without consequence. He has been allowed to cheat - both with his body mass and with his infamous off-arm during drives - more than any athlete I've ever seen.

Now he is funneling cash into the league and its sponsors via a city that never really wanted him.

David Stern created LeBron, and Silver is using that puppet  as a cheap comic book villain.

What the Steroid King and his "Space Jam 2" partner Anthony Davis do is inherently meaningless. Especially to a classy organization like the C's.

So no, there is no rivalry. When the C's start getting fraudulent #4 draft picks in a critical trade market and are allowed to cheat at will, maybe. But for now, the Celtics and Lakers are in completely different classes. The Celtics are a basketball team. The Lakers are entertainment.

Back in business?

Didn't know it was dead...

Additionally - our "Current" rivalry is Tatum vs LeBron....the way Jayson got up in LeBron's grill after he flushed on him in that ECF in 2017-18?

Yeah I think the seeds of this rivalry are ripe for blooming.

TP, Beat LA!  I did not think I could hate them more but Lebron proved me wrong when he got there.

The lakers aren’t even the best team in LA. Wait til PG joins that team. They are a handful.

I wish but not even close..Celtics may be 3rd or 4th best team in East..same with Lakers in West
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I sure hope not - the Lakers, I mean. I would be a much happier person if the Lakers never made another Finals. How devastating would it be if they ended up beating the Cs for a title (or any team) because Lebron freaking James decided to sign there for free while at the same time souring AD on coming here?

Plenty of people around here thought the Lakers might have a hard time making the playoffs - I was certainly not one of them. I am absolutely nervous that their plan might actually work. I suppose we may need to hope for some ill-timed (but not career altering) injuries. Boo Lakers!

Early game record is noisy as far as team quality. Our SRS of 6.24(which is schedule adjusted point differential) is 4th in the east and 8th in the NBA. Lakers are 1st in the West in SRS and third in the league at 9.97

I'm still not sure we're in the elite category yet. Last night was a good sign as we blew out a rather bad Hornets team who is worse than their win/loss record.
