Kyrie was a ball stopper, in general there were less shots available with the ball in Irvings hands. Kemba plays up-pace basketball, the ball doesn't stick to his hands and that's the reason Brown was thriving before his recent time out.

Kemba enjoys having teammates that can score. Kemba thinks of himself as a basketball player first and not a brand.

I have been a big fan of Kemba so far. He has had a few lousy shooting games, so maybe will be even better. Are him and Tatum headed towards all star game?
I believe so, with Kemba being a starter. Apart from him and Kyrie, which other PG is in contention? With the Cs probably having more success than the Nets, it might even give Kemba the edge.

Tatum should also get in as a reserve. Players that are also contenders in my book are Siakam, Middleton, Giannis (what's his position anyway?), Gordon, Butler and Harris. You could make the argument he's playing better than a number of them.

EDIT: after checking these guys' stats, I'm pretty convinced that Tatum is almost a shoe-in if he maintains his level of play. We really got a star in the making in him. Kudos to Danny.

The surprising thing about Walker to me is, he's a much better shooter than i thought he was. His free throws are always cash money and his deep shots coming off screens are really good looking shots. Kyrie was better in isolation but Kemba is way better coming off screens.

I think its going to be an advantage for Kyrie. Even if kemba outplays Kyrie, Kyrie is more of a household name because of all those Cleveland games. I bet he overseas votes favor him a lot.

Love having Kemba Walker on the Celtics!  He fits beautifully!  Play style with the team is great.  It's finally Brad's team again, but each player gets to showcase their strengths...with no hogging of the ball or the limelight.  Joy to watch.. :)

He won't be getting an overseas vote from me >:(

I think that best describes the situation.

It was like Kyrie and Brad were fighting for who will run the offense.

Now it clearly is Brad's team.

Kemba's a scorer and a very good one.
What's more important is he's a good fit in Brad's system.

This is the first time the Celts started 5-1 with Brad as coach.

Kemba plays with so much fire and joy, it makes me want to go out and play in 2 in the morning.

Would like to see Kemba be a little more judicious on his shot selection.

If Hayward doesn't pick up the rebound and basket after Kemba's missed 3 towards the end of the game, it could've been a different outcome.

Kemba will learn that he's not in Charlotte anymore.

I agree with you that shot from 3 towards the end of the game was a bad shot.
Celts got lucky when Hayward got the offensive rebound.

Shot selection will be part of the learning process for Kemba because even though Kemba's a veteran, he's had very little playoff experience.

I too am very happy with Kemba Walker so far.  He is averaging 26.0 pts/gm on 19.0 shots per game.  That is pretty good efficiency (1.37 pts/shot) for the guy on the team who in general will be asked to take the most difficult shots.  Kyrie by comparison is 31.7 pt/gm on 22.7 shots (1.40 pts/shot), also very good.

This is only through 6 games of course and I feel the scoring burden will spread out with Kemba’s attempts and points coming down some.  Kemba is sneaky good though and apparently a much better fit with team chemistry.

We need to get Kanter back (he will provide some scoring and general size) and we need another big to emerge to balance out the roster.  That “other” big may need to be a trade or maybe one of the existing guys will step up.  Our ball handlers and wings are right there with any team in the league but they can only do so much.

I hope so, because Kemba also has a nice mid-range game and is also a pretty good passer. There are many different ways he can help the team.

Big what if:

Danny trades Brooklyn plus Kings picks for Kemba instead of trading for Irving?
Celtics reach the finals in 2018 and this year Horford is still a Celtic ... one can dream

Anyone else see a more balanced and dare I say "better" version of IT in kemba?

I don't think it's all that blasphemous to say that this version of Kemba is "better" than IT. His defense is grading out to be a positive so far, which very little flamethrower guards (only Curry and Lillard are really a positive on defense among the best offensive guards I think) can do. He might just be the MVP calibre player we need to contend for a title if his offense stabilises while maintaining his current defensive intensity.
