You have to be kidding.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Tatum is playing great. He just isn't knocking down 2 point shots or finishing well right now in the very small sample size of 4 games. He previously has shot 2 pointers at a 48% clip but is doing it at 31% right now. He previously has closed at the rim at 66%. Right now he is at 43%.

When his 2 point shooting and finishing numbers start to become closer to his average numbers, if he is still being aggressive but smart about his offense and hitting 3's at a rate like his rookie year, Tatum is going to be averaging 26+ points a game.

Rozier last night was 22-5-6-3 he's doing just fine.

I wish we could deduct TP's or asinine threads like this.  I'm extremely happy with the way this team has been playing.  They need about 20 games to truly mesh.  They've already shown heart and resiliency.  When they all click on all cylinders this team is going to be good.  The only spot on the team they need to address is at the 5.  Hopefully Timelord can develop.  All the C's need is a guy who can guard the Big 5's, clog the paint and help with guys like Giannis when they drive to the hoop.  The C's don't necessarily need a 5 that can score.  Rebound, defend and roll to the hoop.  Between Hayward, Tatum, Brown, Walker they have plenty of scorers.  Smart has been good off the bench.  Kanter will be a good scorer off the bench.  The c's need one more player to step up as a volume scorer and we all hope that's going to be Carsen Edwards.  I still see the need for a starting Big and a bench scorer.  Only two weak points of the team.

To play devils advocate I'd say all that happening is probably easier said than done. Like I have no doubt he will eventually hit more than 35% of his 2pnt shots, and he will hit better than 47% at the rim, but I'm not sure he'll hit 66% at the rim like he has traditionally mostly because its very hard to increase volume and maintain conversation rate. The shots he was taken before were sort of the low hanging fruit stuff you should finish. half court off the dribble stuff is generally a much harder finish, and he's doing that a lot more now. To me he's kind of where Jaylen was beginning of last year which is he's getting to the rim a lot and now he needs to learn how to use angles, vary dribble speed, up fakes ect to generate space. Jaylen has made obvious improvements at those things, we'll see if Tatum does as well.

To me what is gonna determine Tatums upside is his ability to generate FT's, and his passing ability. His rookie year he had a FTR of 31%. Last year was 22%. So far this year 17%. basically he has shot more every year without actually generating more FTA's. By comparison PG is 31%, Kawhi is 32% and KD is at 41% for their careers. Now of course plenty of time for that to go way up, and if he keeps attacking the rim it probably will. And the passing ability we just have to wait and see. His assist percentage is 9.1% tis year, a tad lower than 10.0% last year. But again these numbers take a while to stabilize, its just something to keep an eye on.

I don't mean to seem down on Tatum, I still wouldn't trade him for anybody but KAT (okay and Doncic). Its just that like any 21 yo he has stuff that has t improve if he's gonna be the guy C's fan wnat him too.

Kings last night were something *woof*. Just got ran out of the gym and stopped trying on both ends in the third quarter. No belief or fight at all.

Terry has looked like Terry, which isn't great?

He's hitting 40% of his 3s, and shooting a bit better on free throws which makes his TS% good instead of awful. But I don't expect that to hold up as he's just a streaky shooter even as a starter. He's getting to the line a little bit which is a nice change.

I don't think you could get anything close to equivalent value for Tatum. No all-nba players on the block out there worth sending him away for.

If you're talking about "assets" instead of a good player, then I think you could get a Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas level of return. Multiple picks, at least one unprotected, and a lower level prospect in return as the salary match.

I knew the moment that Jaylen Brown signed that we would have, “Let’s trade Tatum” threads! I just thought it would be after the All-Star game or the play offs. A nice 4-5 months without any trade that guy he’s messing with my fantasy league stats!

But no, can’t even get through the first week of the season.   ::)

What happened to the wait 20 games moratorium before evaluating or declaring the season is over? Anything less is just too small of a sample size. 3.5 quarters is way too small of a sample size. A six pack should last longer than that!

**** this is an idiotic reply. Smart vs Rozier thread was all about who we shouldve kept. Rozier's stats on another team means squat (and he is still shooting badly despite being skewed by a good game vs a god awful sacramento team) in terms of that discussion. The mere fact that Rozier  was one of the culprits for a dysfunctional locker last year vs Smart who is one of the leaders of this team clearly show that yeah, that thread didn't age well.

Stats without context is useless.

His value went up like Bitcoin the other day

lol I just pulled him off the truck.
Tatum trade value just went up.

I guess Tatum should thank the heavens that Ogaju finally gave his approval....

For the moment.

Players like Tatum takes years to finally develop into a superstar. I seriously think that ECF against Cavs truly spoiled us..
Hey he stinks up the joint he should be traded. He plays well he should stay.

Ogaju, I like you, but it seems like time and time again your patience for players, especially young ones don't seem to last that long.

Wouldn't you want Tatum to do well? So if he sucks, trade him? Yes, because great players never have terrible days? Anyways this thread didn't age well, nor did OP even post once more after his terrible take lol.

just want the Cs to win....that's all. When I say trade a player I am expressing how I feel about him at that particular time. lol

Probably something you need to work on, it's not an especially good look.

I will stay just the way I am with my entertainment time and dollars. Thank you. You need to work on telling people how to enjoy their time.

Makes no difference to me how you enjoy your time. If anything registered with me at all with how people like you post it's nothing more than mild, contemptious amusement. And I certainly wouldn't think for a moment that you would ever stop to consider someone else's point of view as far as assessing your own behaviour.
