That first game was generally an ugly one for our youngsters , altho RWIII had some highlights there. But the season is young!

Who do you think will have the most impact to team success by the end of the season? Obviously, being able to impact what’s happening in the game requires minutes. So in a way, it’s also “who will CBS trust the most?”

Carsen Edwards -- he is going to be a very good bench scorer.

I never thought I'd say this but Robert Williams is my guess.

I think Langford although that might be more a hope than reality.

Grant Williams.  By the New Year he will be one of the top two bigs in the rotation.

Hate to say this but no one! That list looks like a G league roster
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Grant Williams.  By the New Year he will be one of the top two bigs in the rotation.

I always appreciate a bold prediction, and I’m with you on one thing at least: I’m bullish on Grant Williams.

Leaving aside the question of whether Grant is a big at all, to do what you predict he would have to pass up both Robert Williams and Daniel Theis - or are you saying that he’ll pass up Kanter?!

And not only that, but you are predicting that this will happen by New Year’s! (I doubt it.)

If there is one takeaway from the first game, it’s that Boston badly needs rim protection. And, while I assume that you would agree with me that Grant Williams has terrific potential as a team defender, there are other players on the roster with a greater ability or upside to protect the rim.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

I really like Grant but I think he'll top out as a 2nd big off the bench this season and step up next year.  Was very impressed with his defensive instincts and toughness on Wednesday - not easy for an undersized, relatively unathletic rookie to do in Game 1 against a top team.

My pick is Edwards, a scoring punch off the bench is more likely to impact us than anything else, with Robert Williams a close 2nd if he can harness those physical gifts and play smart.

I think he’ll get more minutes than two of the three on most nights, yes.  He will get more of his minutes at the 4 than the 5, presumably, so it’s up to you if that means he’s passed two of them or is getting more due to changes in rotations.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I voted with my heart and am hoping Time Lord will prove himself to be a capable situational starter / major rotation player by mid-way through the season. He has already made improvements over last year and clearly appears to be buying into the hard work it will take to really make it in this league.

His potential is sky high so I really have to say that I am loving his dedication so far. We may not need to even make a trade for a big with him and Kanter holding down the C spot. Both provide a completely different look which is even more intriguing.

Also, yes, I believe Carsen Edwards will be electric (at times) and admirably do his thing. Our team may not be championship caliber yet, but we have some young, exciting talent that may really surprise!

Carsen Edwards and it's not even close. We needed a shooter off the bench and this kid can light it up. Once he gets his in-between game going, from people running at him trying to challenge/deny the 3-pointer, he'll be even more dangerous and important. I could also see him developing his game so far that he'll be challenging for 6th man of the year in the not too distant future. And yes, on this planet.

If we want to have a shot at going anywhere this year, it has to be Robert Williams. But in all likelyhood it will be Carsen Edwards or Romeo Langford.

I voted Timelord. I think we have a lot of scorers on this team that Carsen’s output will be limited because he has to defer to those guys. Meanwhile (barring injury), I think timelord has a chance to really carve out a niche on this team.

Voted Timelord, but I think it's close between him and Edwards.

I just wish the team gave him more minutes. In just 11 minutes last game, he put up 5 points, 3 rebounds and looked good out there, yet I felt they took him out in favor of other guys often. I'm not saying to immediately give him starter minutes, but I think this is the year to let Timelord loose and let him carve out a role. It won't help just keeping him on the bench. Let him develop and learn from his mistakes.
