He was the second leading scorer on a 58 win team that won the NBA championship in his 3rd year in the league.  He has excellent range and is a very efficient shooter.  He is a credible rebounder, passer, and defender.  He has taken massive leaps each season.  He looks even better this preseason.

It's good PR for a team that looked like it could be sellers. Not sure if the player will live up to it but I understand why Raptors did it.

If he were a Celtic he wouldn't have all this praise. ;)

They had to sign him.  The Raptors are pretty much his team now.  He has improved so rapidly that if you don't see much of him for a couple months your opinion of him will be outdated and obsolete.  Moranis summed it up.  And he has awesome contagious energy and positive vibes.

right place right time....Kawhi Leonard dividend. Kawhi should get a piece of that deal.

And he was a huge reason Toronto was able to get the #2 seed despite Kawhi missing 20+ regular season games. They were actually in the fight for the #1 seed right until the end of the season.

People will try to belittle his talent, but the dude is good player - on both ends of the court. He's noticeably improved every year he's been in the league.

I mean people just want to see how good he can be without Leonard.

4 years, $130 mil.

That's over 30 mil for a guy who has never scored 17 ppg in a season.

I'm not saying he does or doesn't deserve it. I haven't seen enough of him and, from what I understand, he's an incredible defender who can score in a variety of ways. And maybe he's not done developing.

But man... That's a lot of money.

Well this deal should lock him up for the bulk of his prime.

he deserved it, without him they don't win the chip , the guy was huge at just the right moments.  He may never be that valuable again, but he got Toronto on the map.......good reward for be a team first guy

But man... That's a lot of money.

I mean, neither has Jayson Tatum but that doesn't stop posters from acting like he's the 2nd coming. I'd venture to guess that if Tatum doesn't eclipse that mark this season or improve his defense, posters will still call for him to get a max extension next offseason. Contrarily, Jamal Murray scored 18ppg during the regular season and pushed it up to 21ppg in the playoffs after helping the Nuggets return to the postseason last year, but there are posters here that don't think he was worthy of his max deal either.

TL;DR
Just because they're not Celtics, doesn't mean they're not good enough to warrant the max.
